Boro Players and NASL

Fresh from the discussion about the worst Boro team ever (seems 1982-83 is a popular choice) and talk of David Currie and Gary McDonald, it got me to thinking about two slightly earlier, similar strikers; Alan Willey and Billy Woof. While I can remember (and don't rate) Woof, I have no memories of Willey at all. However, while Woof moved from Ayresome Park to Blyth Spartans, Alan Willey ended up in Minneapolis and became the second top scorer ever seen in the North American Soccer League while playing for the Minnesota Kicks; total goal machine.

As a young lad, the NASL seemed to be so glamorous and I even got myself a nice orange polyester Detroit Express top for some reason (no Boro players, but they did have Trevor Francis). I can remember John Hickton going to Fort Lauderdale Strikers (red and yellow stripes).

Another Kicks player was Frank Spraggon and I ended up at his house one evening in the 80s (my sister and his daughter became friends on holiday in Mallorca) and he showed me a great picture of him going up for a header with Pele.

Obviously other Boro players have played (or coached like Gary Hamilton and Robbie Mustoe) in the US more recently (Jaime Moreno was a legend at DC United and Kai Kamara has stolen a living at several clubs), but were there any other NASL Boro players?
