Boro move to Digital Ticketing 🎟️

Further update - with help section

Quite a few questions answered, along with a form you can complete if having trouble.

'If you are a Season Card holder and you do not have a smart phone, or you don't wish to use digital ticketing, you can apply for an alternative method of entry by completing the form below and sending it to tickets.mfc.co.uk. The rollout of digital Season Cards is in stages, so please only complete this form once you have been contacted about getting set up for digital ticketing.'

I presume the friends and family network is just for people who've set up a MFC digital account? Bit of a b@llache to set up one for every one who may use my ticket in my absence, but needs must I suppose.

Glad there's an official route to exemption, though the fact the form is digital probably won't help with the technologically challenged (I assume the ticket office would help if pressed).

That form says: "Pay-as-you-go smart phones can be purchased from high-street retailers from as little as £35". Genuinely interested to know which NFC-enabled smartphone can be bought on the high street for £35.

Should only have to set it up for that individual once though, and then it's a case of forwarding the ticket whenever you wish.

Thought I found one for £39.99 but it was pay monthly (£13 per month).

It’s not hard to keep a phone charged, and you don’t need signal to use tickets/cards from a phone etc
Just as much chance of loosing your wallet with card/tickets than a phone. Plus anyone can take cash/tickets from a wallet. No chance of doing that from a phone
He is a conspiracy nut that pushes the WEF conspiracies and a big part of that is that digital currencies are out to track, control and bankrupt us all as well as transmit 5g Covid bat signals at us

My phone is quite capable of NFC but, out of choice, I do not have Google wallet and have no intention of getting it. I will fill in the form and keep my card.

Sorry yes, as above. I wasn't trying to prove you wrong btw, I was actually just curious and thought I'd found one.
No worries. I'm genuinely curious too. I tend to buy a phone and keep it for a few years, then use a SIM-only deal for calls/text/data. Last time I looked at phones, NFC was the key feature missing from entry-level (or even mid-range) models, so I'm wondering if that's changed or if it's still not universal.

You could probably buy one for £35 from inside any of the pubs near the Riverside Stadium. ;)

Sounds straight forward enough, though I can't actually find the 'forward' button on the site. Maybe it won't be live until nearer the game.

Some further playing and it looks like its easy enough to upgrade a child ticket to an adult ticket on the site now. Maybe it always was, but I'd never looked before (not really had to do it before).

What is slightly bemusing is that both the 'download' and 'forward' functions aren't yet live, at least not on mine. It would have made sense to send out the comms on the day they were live, I imagine there'll be one or two folk emailing them now saying theirs isn't working. Anyone else tried?

I fully expect this to be very easy and straight forward - and no doubt we'll soon be saying 'why didn't we implement this sooner'

Much easier for the large portion of fans to just have their season card synced to their apple/google wallet on their phone.

And the option to forward to a family/friend looks ideal. Saves passing on tickets/season cards by hand etc.

And costs the fan, not the Boro.
Please send me the money to buy a smartphone and pay for the contract.
Cheers mate

Roofie, there are some benefits to (some) fans as well. If you see no benefit you rightly have the option to exclude yourself.

I attended both the Ashes and the Open last week and in both instances there were purely digital options only, with no option to exclude. It was a case of like it or lump it. Judging by the demographics at the golf this will have no doubt caused a handful of people issues too.
