Boro Half Marathon

That's a brilliant turnout - I hope it becomes a regular event. As a progression from the 5K and 10K events, it offers a target for people to work towards.

Hopefully the event can grow to a 10000+ event and become a focal point for fundraising, fitness, community and the areas reputation.
 
I didn't realise we had a half marathon. Will be something I'd be well up for next year. I'm planning on the leeds half marathon and have got a place in the great north run so will be glad to tick another one off the list

We didn’t until this year. Still places available. 😃
 
I’m doing it too, should be a nice and flat course. Not sure what parking will be like with the road closures, might have just get the bus in if possible.

I’ve managed to get a Great North Run place too.
Really looking forward to that.
Definitely a bucket list run 🏃🏽‍♂️
 
Managed to do the full course this morning. Tough going in the cold, rain & strong wind, but miles in the legs.
Probably only do a couple of 5k runs now leading up to the race. 🏃🏽‍♂️

Just want to say well done to all those who took part today.

Last runner just went past, so huge effort from all

Hopefully this is repeated next year and if health is on my side may even take part myself

One criticism I have though is the traffic management was shocking bordering on dangerous to the runners
Numerous occasions we witnessed cars driving down Marton Road on the side that was closed.
Towards the end even had 2 cars in the middle of the runners.

The poor marshall who was stood on the corner of Marton Road and Park Road South was unable to deal with the drivers doing what they liked, she could have done with more support and I had to go and assist her at one stage which unfortunately lead to an unnecessary confrontation with the driver who objected to me taking a picture of his car after taking it upon himself to cross in front of runners in his car to get to a road that was clearly closed and blocked by cones.

Other than that it looks to have been a huge success and hope the runners enjoyed the course.

Luckily I managed to avoid any of that! Was a decent route, some inclines towards the end I didn’t expect. Would do it again, easy to get to the start and away from the finish. Was back home before 12.

Also, how do you get your results? Will they be emailed to you? I didn’t have a timer myself so only have a ballpark for my time.
 
shame it clashed with the last race of the cross country season (would be easy to avoid that you'd think?) but hopefully I can enter in a future year

I took part today and thought it was a great route and well organised. It was nice to have this so close to home, hopefully it can grow year on year now. That last little climb behind the police station was deceiving legs were on fire 😅

Or the Redcar half, staying closer to home. Anyhow, that’s just the Gazette not having a handle on what’s happening as usual. Well done to all the runners, sounds like overall a great event on a perfect day for it.
