Boris torn a new one at select committee

The simple fact is, Johnson has never been respected nor liked amongst the tory PLP. He was a vote winner, if he remains so, they will keep him. If he is looses public support they will ditch him.

Polls suggest the public support for him is evaporating.

exactly this.

the party and the public who voted for him believed his optimistic can-do guff and all his little quirks (like the fact he cant lie straight in bed, will run off with your wife, then ditch her, has more kids than old mother hubbard and is generally as trust worthy as a a crocodile in a duck pond) were all priced in - as long as he delivers at the ballot box and keep them in office he's golden.

Only now the mask has slipped and once people realise hes a total charlatan and wont deliver for them it starts to snowball and the next clanger he drops resonates with even more people, further underlining what most of us already knew - hes Trump with a posh accent

Whoever fills his clown shoes, it'll be good news for Labour. The Tories are sitting pretty with an 80 seat majority because of the cult of 'Boris'. Once he's gone, their bubble is burst as the electorate take off their rose-tinted spectacles and behold the utter sh*t show they voted in.
I fear Labour will miss yet another open goal 3 yard tap in and fook it right up again with infighting and terrible communications.

The thing is, I know lots of people who have fallen for this loveable rogue persona he has created, once he has gone I think they’ll struggle as they don’t have the ‘common touch’. His charisma (not that I have ever thought he had any) is the reason they kept him where he is. He is costing them dearly so he’ll be gone soon.

I'm afraid it's people / media who call him by his brand name that are keeping him in power by helping preserve his matey image
Now that is being damaged though. Alexander doesn't have any more characters he could play with.

And the manipulative, careerist, scheming, love cheat Al de pfeffel probably won't get as many votes

Well, I doubt it’ll bother him. He’ll have made a fortune since being in power and he’ll be owed a few favours now

Agree with all the other comments thus far…
I hope it’s not Sunak because he’s the only one who could keep hoodwinking the English public that the Tories are good for this country

What we need is total electoral reform so to reflect the voting public and therefore proportional representation

That’s the only time we’ll see real change
This! PR although like all voti g systems is not perfect, it at least means we have proper majority rule or a coalition representing the wants of the electorate.

It would give parties like the greens more of a voice too, downside any future rise in popularity for BNP or UKIP ect also get a voice too.

FPTP is antiquated and not fit for purpose, being able to lost the popular vote and still be the party in power (like the Tories have done many times) is just not democracy.

It really doesnt matter anymore. this posh tw.at is doing what he was always going to do: take care of himself and his friends.

The working class people who voted for him.....jesus. HE HAS NEVER DONE A DAY'S WORK IN HIS LIFE.

The damage has been done. Brexit will take this country to its knees and this posh cu.nt pushed for that to serve his own purposes.
Inflation is going through the roof, the NHS is almost at breaking point.....this is what happens when money is left to look after itself

What's stopping Labour calling for a vote of no confidence?
Tory MPs supporting an opposition vote of no confidence in its own Government would be like turkeys voting for Christmas. It won't happen so it would be a pointless exercise.

The Tories will get rid of Johnson well before the next GE but the only way to get them out is at the ballot box.

Fair enough.

You know your in trouble when the first people you have publicly jumping to your defence are Nadine Dorries and Michael Fabricant.

Boris has to be feeling like he is in a Care Home with Hancock at the gate throwing a protective ring around him.
