Boris married Carrie today??

Curses I was just thinking the same. Was going to say all it needed was an alsatian called Blondi (suppose Dilyn will have to do), a Luger and a cyanide capsule and the parallel would be complete.
On an associated note Mrs Chickenrunner mentioned the marriage to me this morning (she's a Borisette by apathy), in a flash I said "you do understand he's the most abysmal PM this country has ever had", followed quickly by "this conversation is 'closed to further replies' ". Didn't f##king work but was worth a try.

Why on earth would you marry a fella who cheated on his wife whilst she was having treatment for cancer, and you were not even the person he was shaging?
And he had lots of other kids he refused to acknowledge.
Boris in a Dress ?

Tory party stunt formed in the weeks leading up to Cummings testimony, Tories aren’t stupid. Move the narrative away and this Carrie woman is clearly bonkers going out with him and will sign away her soul for some noterioty
Unbelievable how they are desperate to avoid any prolonged negative press

According to the wireless this morning, all of Johnson's other marriages weren't in catholic churches so they don't count as far as the catholic church is concerned or summat. He'll be knackered if he wants his next marriage to be in a catholic church.

I don't believe that is correct. My understanding is that even for non-Catholics previous civil weddings would have to be annulled for them to be married in an official Catholic ceremony.

There is a myth that if you've been divorced you can have a Secret Marriage and all the reports refer to them being "married in secret" could point to that but it is little more than a blessing & wouldn't count as a marriage in civil law or within the Catholic Church.

An actual Secret Marriage is one which happens outside of civil law but within canonical law, and is usually used when Catholics are being persecuted by the state and can't marry publicly. It isn't intended nor can it be used for a divorcee with an unannulled marriage to circumvent the usual process.

She hasn't signed anything away. She's the one pulling the strings.

That would be an ecumenical matter

That would be an ecumenical matter
It literally would be. Ecumenical can mean a compromise or the watering down of essential truth.

A Catholic priest would believe that "what God has joined together, let no man separate" so that even after a civil divorce the couple are still married in the "eyes of God", so a priest then allowing a divorcee (with an unannulled marriage) to get married in church would mean they were sanctioning adultery.

nb I became a lapsed Catholic sometime in secondary school about 30 years ago but the indoctrination runs deep.
