Boris and his 2020 Christmas Parties in lockdown...

its hard not to become apathetic when you knew exactly what this guy was going to be like as prime minister but yet he got ahuge majority.

Particularly when the leader of the opposition told just as many lies to secure himself as leader of the party and seems hell bent on becoming tory light again.

I'm apathetic and I historically have been extremely politically engaged, so people less interested in politics or those who have little time for much else than paying their bills and getting food on the table are inevitably just going to be looking out for themselves - I honestly can't blame them.
Nah, I can't have that. How are people looking out for themselves by making everyone poorer?

And people still continue to listen to what he dictates. As long as that continues then he will consistently get away with things.

It’s not apathy, in my opinion, it’s a lack of engagement that allows headlines to dictate the narrative, as much as we might want to deny it on subjects that we have little or no interest our views can be manipulated easily, if you’re not into cars for example and see a program that sings the praises of BMW then you’ll believe that a BMW is a top car, for many in this country their only exposure to politics is once every few years when there’s a General Election or referendum, you only have to look at how niche a subject EU membership was 20 years ago and the entrenched sides now to show how easily a very analogue and nuanced topic can became polarised and digitalised, most people are exposed to less than 5 minutes of news or current affairs output a day, it’s the tone of those broadcasts that shape the political perception in this country as much as anything.

I think this will be the final straw for most people, imagine people who have lost family and friends to Covid, the regime is over.

Seems that you can do what you like when you're judge, jury, and denier/ pardoner.

Do we just let those on trial decide their own sentences now?

"9 years in prison? No, I don't fancy that, I'll take the back hander £5m for the PPE contract thanks"

If I was a Tory (with morals), I'd be embarrassed I voted for them, even more so if I didn't expect them to be this bad, or was just gullible. Even if they aren't embarrassed, I'm embarrassed for them. Very hard for people to admit they're gullible though.

Some knew what they were voting for and what they were getting, they're even worse. Can't even be embarrassed for them, they're just not nice people, and only out for themselves.

I'd go a bit further than that.

Johnson could end up killing their party for a generation like from 1997. If I was a party member that would concern me massively.

Considering he has no particular ideology that supporters can get behind, it's a weird situation in very strange times.

That would be a good outcome, if it hadn't been so damaging :(

The problem is it's going to damage us economically for decades, something which the next party won't be able to do much about (so they'll no doubt get blame from the Tories).
There's no bringing back the excess deaths either, which will have hit families hard and will hit them for years to come.
The NHS waiting lists are up by 2.5x too in the last decade, and before anyone blames the pandemic, they were up 2x before that. Going to be a lot of people suffering until the next party can start to put a dent in that again. Could take a decade or more to get that back.

He's got the "I'm a selfish, useless fool" ideology, people following that probably need to look in the mirror.

1: They weren't following "the rules" Those weren't rules, it was laws they broke. Usually manipulative use of wordplay here. If you argue they weren't following the rules then you acknowledge they were rules. When in fact they were laws. breaking laws is worse.

Also one of the reasons they will get away with this is that the media will allow it.

Rather bizarrely no 10 is probably exempt from many covid regulations. It has to be specifically included by a dictate to Westminster council.

I suspect that it's why the no rules were broken is being touted without explaining what that means

As it would sound like one rule for us and one rule for the rest. And of course it was very much that.

LAST CHRISTMAS (DOWNING STREET PARTY MIX)

Last Christmas,
He said stay apart,
And the very next day,
They partied away

This year,
It was denied with a sneer,
And claimed it was nothing special
(Special)

Not my own, but the fantastic Brian Bilston

There were 514 covid deaths that day and London had just gone into Tier 3 lockdown. Plenty to celebrate for the Tory scumbags.
