Booking a booster jab

I have just been asked to book a booster jab. I am willing to have a booster jab.

Online I was offered places more than 20 miles from where I live. (date not given as I abandonned to booking when it said 20 miles closest)

On the phone I got it down to 14 miles from my house but in December.

I can almost see a vaccination centre (not a walk in one) from my house!

We I tried walk in centres - it was also 14 miles away.

I live in a city not a remote village.

So much for trying to save the planet.
Also no consistency (online and phone enquiry were only 2 hours apart).

My first two jabs were only 2 miles from where I live and within a few days.

I am not happy with the management of the booster programme from my direct experience.

Anyone else feeling frustrated about options offered?

Not frustrated but just booked mine today and earliest appt. was 19th Dec which seems a chunk of time. But it's very local at least
My Mrs, who is 5 years younger and has no other special criteria than me, keeps getting lucky and getting jabs weeks before me. No rhyme or reason behind it

Tried to book mine. Can only book December as that is 6 months after my 2nd jab. Presuming that everyone has AZ jabs for their first 2 jabs. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines need much lower storage temperatures and a lot of places can't do this. I found quite a bit of choice of venue where I could have my booster.

I just had my booster this afternoon I went on line on Monday and got fixed to today at a time I wanted. Went to Darlington Stadium. 10 mins drive. Was all very well organised. No ill effects so far 🤞

Booked mine for the first week in December, it is walking distance from my house in a local pharmacy (both previous were at the Darlington Arena) bit apprehensive about the Pfizer/Moderna after AZ as I've heard a few people said it felt like they'd been kicked in the head by Red Rum but it's just a few hours discomfort. Hey ho.

Same, I had a pretty poor choice of venues and had to travel.
Didn’t bother booking one in the end I’ll wait

I booked on the NHS site when they announced the reduced five month period but I could only book a vaccine for a month later in December so it wasn't actually a five month period since my last vaccination. I did manage to get one nearby but I had jumped the gun and booked before I got the text from the NHS.

yep, and my booster is booked for mid dec at the riverside

Judging by that link there are no walk in places in Middlesbrough. The nearest one is Hartlepool. Surely that’s a mistake? I can’t believe there’s nowhere in Middlesbroug, or even Stockton, Redcar, Saltburn, Guisborough etc.?

I can have my booster first week of December, assuming it’s still 6 months since your second jab, but like the OP, I’m not really all that keen to travel all that far outside Middlesbrough for it.

I don't know where you live but when I booked my booster I was offered 7 places within 6 miles of my house. They were all within 8 days . I actually picked the Riverside which was the furthest away but easy to drive in and out of.
When I had my 2nd jab the centres changed everytime I logged in . I was offered a few in Darlo and even Leeds. After logging in 3 or 4 times over the day they got closer until I was offered the Riverside

Thank you for the replies and tips - a picture is emerging of how patchy and haphazard coverage is - some posters have lots of local options and some none. Coverage commonly changing on a less than daily basis. I tghink I will keep trying until I can get a local option, Crazy travelling 20 miles each way for a jab when tens of millions of jabs are available.

Register with the NHS app (bit of a chew but if IT savvy, photos etc). Once done, you can book five months after last jab and get next one after six months and a day. Mine is LLOYDS chemist opposite St Francis Church today!

Try your local county council or your local council Twitter feeds, down here they had mobile vaccination centres which would go to different places during the week, they were not on the NHS site but on the Twitter feeds, you could just walk in if there was one nearby.

We all have different reactions but if it's any consolation Mutters, the wife and i had AZ for the 1st 2 jabs and Pfizer for the booster and she was fine, no ill effects at all, I had a stiff shoulder for 3 days, but that's all

I had to go to Sunderland (nightingale) for my first. Stockton for my second. I get my booster on Sunday at The Riverside. Which is only just over a mile away.

Got a phone call on Wednesday asking me to attend for booster jab and flu jab-told them I had got a flu jab and only needed booster-was given dates and times and got booked in tomorrow at N Ormesby health centre
