Bombing in Yemen overnight

You really need to research your information.
Maybe that might be a good place to start?
Scenario's like the Red Sea don't occur in a vacuum and we might be better informed if we dug a little deeper than watching the BBC from behind our cornflake packets.

Yemen:
Why don't you go the whole hog and called them “Iran-backed Houthi rebels" - then you've really framed the discussion the way you want it!
I don't have to plagiarize information from one or any source. If I use other sources, I always quote them.

Yet again you are not listening. The official government of Yemen have not attacked anyone. The attacks on shipping are coming from rebel controlled territory in the south… THE REBELS ARE THE ONES LAUNCHING THE ATTACKS.

As for framing a discussion.. it is factually correct to say that the rebels are backed, funded and equipped by Iran…. So he isn’t framing anything he is telling the truth

You really need to step back from the debate. You are showing you clearly have no idea what is going on… big picture or otherwise

I do enjoy reading threads with contributors who are across the detail of the topic and who know significantly more about the situation than I do. Every day is a school day as they say.

But then you get the odd poster who thinks patronising comments and boring the forum into submission with lengthy, disjointed propaganda copied and pasted from the internet, is the way to debate.

Well don't take any notice of me.
I'm close as close can be to where the RAF was and didn't even know they were there. 🤣

No.
"Iran-backed" is the US / UK story to cover whatever crimes they care to commit.

All UK, US interests in region are legitimate targets: Yemeni Council

UK and US presence in the Red Sea violates International Law, and the Republic of Yemen is responsible for dealing with it appropriately.

The Yemeni Supreme Political Council of the Sanaa government issued a statement on the joint US-UK overnight aggression against Yemen warning of imminent retaliation.

"What the country has been subjected to is an unjustified and illegitimate American-British aggression, which violates all international laws," the statement's opening statement read.

"All American and British interests have become legitimate targets for the Yemeni Armed Forces in response to their direct and announced aggression against the Yemeni Republic," the Supreme Political Council warned.

"The aggression on Yemen is an extension of the treacherous American targeting of the Yemeni Naval Forces and the American-British-Zionist aggression on the people of Gaza. The American-British aggression is a real threat to international peace and security, putting the region at grave stakes."

"The presence of American and British forces, and those allied to them, under false pretexts in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab [strait] is rejected and violates all laws. This presence [of the US and UK in the Red Sea] is a threat to international navigation, and it's the duty of the Yemeni Republic to deal with it the way it sees fit."

"We affirm the commitment of the Yemeni Republic to what was declared at the beginning of its naval operation to end the blockade, stop the aggression, end the genocidal war on Gaza, and allow the entry of food, medicine, fuel, and all means of life."
* American military bases have come under increasing attack in Iraq and Syria. The Iraq PM said the US needs to withdraw its troops from Iraq asap.

Iraqi Resistance: US attacks on Yemen demand end of American presence

In a statement published on their Telegram channel, Kataib Hezbollah stated that the US and Britain do not realize the extent of their folly, in both attacking Yemen and supporting the Israeli occupation's crimes in Gaza. The consequences of this have been underestimated by the two imperialist powers.

They added that assassinations and bombing campaigns would not deter the Axis of Resistance from persisting with its operations, fulfilling its duty to defend the Palestinian people. As such, the party promised that the Axis would continue to undermine their enemies militarily, security-wise, and economically until weakening their influence and driving them out of West Asia.

Finally, the group emphasized its support to its counterparts in the Axis of Resistance, especially in Yemen, and its readiness to adopt any decision made by the Iraqi people and leadership.

I prefer the facts.
Sarcasm, by the way, is the lowest form of whit.

My mate said they were from Cyprus, but I have just checked with him to see if that's his inside intel, or gleaned from news sources.

Fun fact. Britain established it's base in Aden in the early 1800's as a result of local tribal leaders raiding shipping in the Red Sea area. Nothing new under the sun. Just a different empire running the show now.

Al Mayadeen is a Hezbollah backed TV and News corporation. And you accuse me of citing sources from only reading the BBC. And then proceed to copy and paste. Debate please.

The Houthis are firing drones and missiles at shipping. We can agree that?

Then where are they getting them from?

Come on this isn't a massive stretch of intellect. You can't just knock up drones and missiles in a local workshop that repairs AK-47s. The guidance systems alone have to be sourced, rocket motors, casings, triggers and detonators, etc. they have to access either commercial GPS systems or secure military GPS systems for guidance and then (in the case of anti shipping missiles) home in on a moving target some time after launch or be guided onto target using a data link. This isn't something they have knocked up themselves. So, you have to ask yourself who is providing them with this weaponry? Plainly it is not the Saudis who are busy trying to kill them. The only other local powers with that sort of tech are Israel and Iran...

See I can copy and paste too...

I'm hoping I fall into the former category 👍

I posted a video further up of the the Typhoons and the voyager taking off from Cyprus. Your mate is wrong

He was travelling back to Ukraine, so no idea where he got the info from ... but, as he generally has access to military intelligence, he's usually right. But I'm not going to argue the toss. Just reporting what he said, as I'd told him about Lemmy yesterday.

The government briefed that it was Cyprus and the Independent has shared coverage of four Typhoons and a support plane taking off from Cyprus.
