Blunt summary: "Does Britt Assombalonga’s Millwall omission signal the end for him at Middlesbrough?"[Gazette]

187 league games ??? So you're now slagging him off for not scoring in games he didn't even play in...
UNBELIEVABLE even for you 🙂
His goalscoring record was appalling in the quarter of last season that he missed through injury after Darren Pratley fouled him 😉
On the other hand this season he has been dreadful. I don't think it makes him 'a disgrace', but don't want him involved again

As usual Nobby you don't read things properly.
He hasn't been chosen for anywhere near all the matches, nor does he complete them when he is.
He is so easy to drop and take off. Good strikers aren't.
He is a total spud. I'm not surprised you continue to defend him.
I am surprised Adi has started to.

45 goals in 144 apps a goal every 3.2 games for Middlesbrough FC
Leave Adi out of it ✌️

He doesn't play long enough, doesnt score enough, misses far too many and does nowt else, except take money home in an armoured vehicle.

Anyway no point going round in circles any more over this. Pretty much as usual we disagree.

I think there’s a lot of not reading stuff properly on this thread.

In my very first post on this thread I make it very clear that I’m not a fan of BA. I am not mounting a defence. I am simply saying that his goal scoring record isn’t bad enough to warrant terms like ‘disgraceful’ or ‘embarrassing’. He can’t help what we paid for him or his salary. Everything else being equal you simply cannot look at his goal scoring record and think he is an embarrassment. It’s hyperbolic nonsense.

He hasn’t lived up to his billing, his price tag or his reputation. Had we paid £5m for him and halved his money then to my mind that would have been value for money. As it is we over paid for what we got.

I don’t see that I’m saying anything particularly outrageous here. I am ultimately glad he is going because he is a burden but I’m not going to label him an embarrassment or a disgrace because neither of those things are supported by the evidence or what I’ve seen. There are players who have done far, far worse than him for us. He came in, completed his contract and scored at a reasonable rate at this level ie not a top striker and not a disaster. All a bit meh.

152 appearances, there's every chance that's his final record too.
A goal every 3.38 games.

When people look back on his time here in the future, his goal record will be nothing to sniff at, but that doesn't change the fact that his performances haven't been up to scratch this season.
They weren't last season either, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because nearly everyone struggled under Woodgate.

I do think we'd have more goals this season if he'd started every game over Akpom, but we don't see what goes on behind the scenes.

We did overpay, but I think that's because Forest didn't want to sell, Burnley were also interested and we activated his release clause by bidding £15m.

Yeah agreed...no problemo 👍

Fair enough TC I got my stats off wiki
He hasn't done very well this season but it's been very stop start for him.

My criticism of Britt is that he is a poor all round footballer. His touch is dreadful and his all round team play is substandard. He doesn't give defenders a hard enough time. He is unconvincing on penalties and he rarely strikes the ball cleanly. There is every possibility he would have missed the chance that NML put away. He does score the odd goal though so he must something. His stats do flatter him as a footballer though.

Once more Adi gets to patronising posters. His MO is alive and well. You really should change this, Adi.
What those who defend Britt by putting up his stats don’t appear to realise is they are diluting their argument. The stats show he was a half decent striker whose return now this season is appalling. This is through lack of application or he has just become a poor striker- or both.

Anyway, as Indeedido states, not long to go.

Your lack of self awareness is scary.

Of course it is supported! What are you talking about?

Adi, as usual, will argue his viewpoint till the cows come home

But our Adi won’t have it as it doesn’t suit his agenda - some things in life never change!!

Britt is one of those strikers that if they don't score he does little else for the team and unfortunately since he has been with us he hasn't scored enough.

He's been awful this season though and the thing which I find the most frustrating about him is that he seems to have put in little effort for the vast majority of it as well.

There's something gone on this season and whatever it is Britt does look like he's downed tools which is pretty disgraceful.

More petty insults I see from Adi. Really you should act as a mature person - especially when you are losing the argument. I honestly thought his time away would mean a different Adi - got that one wrong. He has a formula he follows when in trouble.

Becomes patronising

Claims he doesn’t understand posts

Suggests posters calm down insinuating emotion is getting the better of them.

All rather pathetic from someone who holds himself in high esteem and believing he is a superb debater.....

And, of course, being in denial of all characteristics shown.

Only one of us is behaving in that way Nosmo and it isn't me. I am happy that the thread speaks for itself. I recommend you click the ignore button.

Lack of judgement added to the charge sheet. If you’re happy defending what is conceivably our front line striker scoring a pitiful 5 goals this season by suggesting his previous record is a line - the only line- for defending him - and you claim to be happy with that stance?

You will never admit when you’re wrong - and here you clearly are.
