Binns closing down

In July apparently, always been on the cards unfortunately, a shadow of it's former self since Mr Ashley took over.

That's a shame but he treat the place as if it was a market stall. Perhaps room in there and Debenhams to allow them to accommodate what's in the Cleveland Centre. Then they can knock that down and extend the park.

Its sad its a great building, to be forever associated to one Bernard Slaven's rear end, unfortunately its closure just reflects the wider retail sector. The days of great department stores are pretty much over. It will be interesting to see what becomes of most provincial town centres in 20 or 30 years.

Although I am not a lover of Mike Ashley and all he stands for, I don't really think you can blame him for the demise of Binns. Binns was struggling long before Ashley took over and looked like it had lost its sparkle every time we went in.

It will be sad to see another great store go but I feel it will be the first of many. Recently, I visited M&S for a suit and I bet they didn't have three suits on display. We drove over to Teesside Park and that was very similar. The cafe seems to have taken over more of the men's wear upstairs.

I ended up visiting the Metro Centre and it was the complete opposite. A guy in there said they are looking to run small-town stores down and just have a large regional store and concentrate on online shopping. I don't know how true that is, but if you don't use it, you will lose.

We are all guilty of buying from the internet and that won't change. I heard a guy talking to Bob Fischer on his show and he said something along the lines of 'if we all spent £5 in our local shops, it would put something like £3m into the local economy.'

Same I went to m&s at teesside park looking for a suit only to find next to nothing recently ended up going to moss bros.

From what I have seen over the kast couple of years I thought it myst be a money laundering scheme as there I never see anybody in there. Obviously if Mr Ashley's lawyers still read football messageboards I am not being serious.

Magnificent building ,,turn it into a music venue,or theater,
There is a company in France called FNAC, which is part of the DARTY group and tends to be housed in similar buildings and has different departments on each floor. FNAC sells a lot of electrical goods, TVs, HiFi's, Phones, CDs, DVDs, Vinyl, books, holidays, etc.

It would be nice if a company like that took over.
