Biden on Brink of Withdrawing From the Race

Sadly a relief. It's a shame it had to come to this. He really should never have stood. Ironically the attempted assassination of the Orange Wankspangle has boosted the Reps chances. I don't know who should run, Kamala Harris is not convincing (at least from here)
The word is that she has learnt a lot over the last few years and has become a much stronger possibility. I hope so.

Huge bad faith push from the GOP now for Harris to invoke 25th amendment and remove Biden as president on the grounds of him being unfit. The underlying strategy though is that if she doesn’t do this (which I don’t imagine she will), she herself should be considered unfit to serve.

Michelle Obama has said multiple times she has absolutely no intention of ever running for president.

It'll be Harris, and it's a big risk.

i read that she was born in Oakland California to a Tamil indian mother and a Jamaican father.
I think the comment was a cheeky nod to Trump leading the accusations against Obama. However, given his propensity to repeat himself, he may well just roll out the same rhetoric against Harris, truthful or otherwise.

Whether or not it will enhance the Democrats chances remains to be seen.

But one thing it does do is remove the excuse of "I can't bring myself to vote for Biden, he's too old".

Those floating voters now have to truly own it if they still want to back the bloated orange pig or at stand aside and let him waddle to victory.

Their bluff has been called. Let's see where they truly stand.

I'd go for Harris right now simply because I can't see the GOP resisting the chance to have a go at her race.
In an ideal world though I'd like to see Whitmer make a run for the WH.

As mentioned earlier, a lot of the attacks on Biden are definitely capable of being aimed at Trump now.

At 78, he's the oldest ever US presidential candidate, and has shown plenty of signs of decline himself.
The problem with that will be Harris ran with Biden when he was the same age.

I’ve always thought the best attack on Trump would be one that plays to Americans egos and the idea of American exceptionalism. “Trump simply isn’t exceptional enough… he had a huge head start in life… he’s failed so many times etc etc”.

I fervently hope the Democrats don’t implode choosing a successor. I’d like to see a Harris/Whitmer ticket. I quite like Newsome, but I think he’s unlikely to win the swing states, whereas Whitmer seems to be very effective in Michigan.
I’m rather looking forward to the next televised presidential debate now. I had, like many people, a sense of foreboding about the last one and all my worst fears came true. Biden is to be admired standing down, it can’t have been easy for him. His record after four years of the Orange Pig is testament to his ability to get things done. Let’s hope the unsure voters have an easier choice now.

I like the idea but the pool of people that typically run for president normally start life on 3rd Base and have a string of failings behind them also. Plus people still buy the "Trump is the business president" line no matter what truths you lay out for them.
