Better Call Saul

I thought the hold music was the same music played in the chicken shops. It was a message to Lalo letting him know that they knew he was alive. Mikes way of flushing him out.
Could be wrong.
Just watched the scene again. I was wrong, it was the clicking on the phone that alerted Lalo to the wire tap.

It’s a slow burner.

Took me until about Episode 6 or 7 of series one to get into it

If you’ve seen all of Breaking Bad then definitely watch it.
As Aet said, absolutely correct. The first season of BCS, maybe even the second are ones you just gotta stick with but it gets FAR better,

If you have not seen Breaking Bad to the end, BCS will be of little interest to anyone who would just try it out as a show to get into, I would imagine, just like most other sequel dramas would be. Though I have heard of folk who have absolutely loved BCS having not even seen BB!

If you did not watch the entirety of BB, you can find plenty of good channels on Youtube dedicated to BCS that explain Saul Goodman's story before he become the dodgy bus bench lawyer in BB which may inspire you to give it another go.

Depends on what floats your boat I guess, But BCS is certainly a slow burner that picks up fast towards the end of most seasons with the odd stand-out episode as well - such as Bagman - season 4 ... that was unreal.

I have never known a series, personally, that had so many supporting characters that people adored as in BB such as Mike Ermantraut, Hector, Gustavo Fring, etc .... and BCS is largely all about how these characters all came into being the people they turned into, telling many of their backstories - such as Mike .. who did not start out anywhere near as intimidating as he is in BB but always had that bitterness burning within him when he becomes disillusioned with the Police force of whom he was a part of. A clever man who can handle himself .. then comes to break bad in order to support his remaining family - His daughter, and niece. I won't ruin that story though and spoil it again as I did in an earlier post :ROFLMAO:

I either recommend you watch Breaking Bad or a Saul pre-BB summary on Youtube and then try it again unless you have already seen the former ,,, I guess it just ain't for you.

After Monday's episode, I have been so impressed with how it has gone so far, and the pace this season is noticeably different ...,

I am praying the second half finale of BCS does not go the same way as Ozark's did, which ended with a whimper and ****-poor plot/story ending. After Monday's BCS episode, I am certain most will be pleased. Pretty weird when people already know mostly what happens anyway with the main protagonist in SG. where he ends up shortly. Apart from Gene and the taxi driver .. that is going to be mega

We've also got Walter and Jesse returning in the second half of BCS, That will be interesting. I thought it didn't work in El Camino, but I trust Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. It's gonna be a belter (y)

Perhaps the end of Lalo is he is eventually captured by the authorities hunting him down in ABQ and he is now on a double murder charge along with the rest, but surely, we'd have known there was a major Salamanca in prison during BB.
My money is on Mike taking him out, I can't see him surviving as he is determined to take the chickenman down but we know he doesn't

* PROBABLY A SPOILER (IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN BB) *

Don't forget, in BB, when Walt and Jesse take Saul into the desert blindfolded, Saul says "Did Lalo send you?".
So at that point Saul thinks Lalo is still around.
He also says "It wasn't me it was Ignacio"
Which If nothing else, that is an incredible piece of continuity.

It's almost as if a massive part of the BCS plot was based on those two lines written a decade or so earlier.

Well remembered. Think I need to watch BB again

I'd like to claim an amazing memory but I recently read an article detailing all the Breaking Bad references in Call Saul.
And vice versa:
Such as Saul telling Walter White that he once pretended to be Kevin Costner to impress a girl. A scene then played out in BCS.
Or that the guy in the bar (Ken) conned by Jimmy and Kim was the same one whose car Walter set on fire in the garage.

Alright then, so who’s watched episode 8 ?

Didn’t disappoint!!!

Still no idea what’s gonna happen to Kim!!!
Thought it was brilliant. Guess Saul is going to be looking over his shoulder into BB, because Mike didn’t actually say what happened.

My mate reckons all the scenes in the future where Jimmy is working in the cinabub and he looks so miserable all the time is because Kim is killed. Ive got a feeling he’s going to see the hoover man and send her off with a new identity, and he’s gutted because he won’t see her again.

Thanks for that Aet. I hadn't realised that it was back. That'll give me something to watch later. I've got Bob Odenkirk's latest book but I haven't got around to reading it yet.

Yes that’s my gut feeling too
She gets the new identity and its a bit part character from Breaking Bad.
Still wondering how Jesse and Walt are gonna appear to!

Have just started watching Breaking Bad for the first time, me and my better half watched the first series on the plane back 9its a long, long flight).

A few people I have spoken to said they lost interest after series 3, be interesting to see other peoples thoughts?

It's very good but BCS is the better show in my opinion. It depend on what you like though. BCS moves at a slower pace and there's more focus on character, most of the time but the two shows do compliment each other well. You'll get a lot more out of BCS if you've already seen BB before you watch it.

Just watched the new episode. (E08).
So good. So tense.
Having loved BB, it would be interesting to get the thoughts of someone watching BCS first and then BB. The story's mesh together brilliantly. Can't wait to see how BCS ends, but I don't want it to end....

Last night's episode was explosive. Poor Howard ... packed with 'BB Easter eggs'/paralells

I think it ends up too much for Kim and she uses 'The Disappearer' as note, the interest she took in the Best Quality Vacuum card in Dr. Caldera's 'little black book' an episode or two back

Poor Howard, awful ending for him but fantastic TV

Perhaps Gene and Kim reunite at the end ??
