Well I don’t know many people who have gotten three and six month suspensions from work - do you know any? I would say very nearly.
Exactly, I don't know anyone suspended from their employment as a result of breaching social distancing rules hence the reason why I think her treatment was harsh.

And I'm not talking about Kay Burley here so stop inferring that I am.

The mental gymnastics here are impressive. Someone in a senior public role responsible for writing and implementing the rules he undeniably broke versus a journalist asking tricky questions about COVID breaking the rules. You have a really skewed view of the world just to defend the indefensible.

It was a daft post because your position seems to be that she should have lost her job because she broke the rules and asked difficult questions about COVID ie she did her job. Boiled down that means you think anyone breaking COVID rules should lose their job. Is that your position? Hi

I find the Kay burley point linked and relevant, it’s fine if you do not.

my view is that sky knew given the gravity of the offence they had to do something and I truly believe they very nearly lost their jobs.the only reason they kept them is probably because they are are seen as assets to the company. I think they could quite easily have been sacked for what they did - rather than harsh I think they got off lightly but it’s just a difference of opinion borofur that’s all.

When you break the Covid rules , which let's face it are for your own and other people's benefit from an awful pandemic , you deserve disciplining.
Sky should have sacked her. She is an awful "anti everything " person.

Let he who casts the first stone and all that.

There's plenty of hypocrisy on this thread and in the public in general.

I break social distancing rules every day at work because my employment puts me in a position where I have no option.

Should I be sacked too?

Have you not done the same?

Fair play to you if you've managed to be completely Covid-19 compliant in every aspect over the last 18 months.

51 council workers have been suspended for breaching covid rules. Some were later sacked.

I like Rigby, doesn't pussy foot around the topic as much as most journalists. She knows they're a shower of shyte, so she now frames her questions so that there non-answers mean they've just admitted to being a shower of shyte.

I'd be interested to know how many of those 51 council workers suspended and/or sacked breached Covid rules in their own personal time i.e not during work.

Now if they had knowingly failed to follow an activity specific Risk Assessment/Method Statement associated with their work then that is an entirely different proposition.

Many workers in all industries up and down the country are disciplined for breaching workplace procedures, Covid related or otherwise.

Strange how she never held them to account during the original daily covid briefings though.

None as far as I'm aware, but your comments were about your work situation.

There was a dentist suspended for 18 months for not isolating after a holiday abroad.

She did as did many other journalists.
It's just that she wasn't in control of the mute button and was never afforded the luxury of a follow up question.

You should have noticed that whoever the Government put up never actually answered the questions asked of them. They gave answers to questions that weren't actually put to them on almost every occasion.

Depends what’s in their contracts - a lot of places place certain restrictions on your outside of work activity especially if it reflects badly on your employer. I’m guessing the suspension was managed through the correct HR channels.

My employer would have difficulty suspending me having put me in an invidious position in the first place.

And the dentist, well he deserves everything he got.

In those circumstances a council employer could only suspend and/or sack an employee who breached Covid regulations in a private setting if that breach was deemed illegal.

A council employer is not an arbiter of the law.

Like I say it all depends what’s written into the contrcat
