Best Alcohol Free "Beers"?

After my demise into chugging on vodka literally from the bottle at all hours, I am now on a journey of recovery. I did try the "only soft drinks route", but I just don't like soft drinks that much. I still want a "beer" but without the alcohol. This goes against AA (I am not a member anymore) and a lot of other recovering people and I do not class myself as an alcoholic, just a person with massive depressions, who turns to alcohol to quieten my head, which every time makes it 100% worse, so I drink more.. repeat the cycle. but next time I think, it will be fine, but it obviously never is....

So I started recently testing 0 - 0.5% drinks and some are actually very nice. Shame 90% of the bars I have been to with my wife, don't stock any non alcoholic beers, so back to the tonic water.

I have found the following to be not bad at all.

Heineken 0.0%
Guinness 0.0%
Peroni 0.0%
Erdinger alkoholfrei grapefruit

Any others that you feel are decent and are easy to get hold of plus not £20 a 330ml can :D

I tried loads of low alcohol beers a few months back, found it quite a depessing experience tbh, as found none of them hit the mark. gave up in the end, and started trying "better" & different soft drinks, like elderflower which were nicer! fortunately, am now back on real beer and enjoying it. the best low alcohol beers I found were these....

Thanks, will have a look. I find it depressing but I have no other option, I need to abstain now.

I used to quite like bitberger drive. Wasn’t too bad at all!

I like Becks Blue and Guinness. However some of the alcohol free gins are what I tend to drink now, when I'm having a night off.

Seedlip as well as the 0% equivalents of the well known gin brands are all great, but not cheap and you do tend to get through it quite quick.

My missus tried the alcohol free corona and said it was just like the real thing, think she got it in tescos. She has tried the peroni and bierre moretti alcohol free and said they were good also, kept her going whilst she was pregnant. Back on the wine now though.

The Schneider Weisse one is decent. Agree that they're generally not great, can't put my finger on it but the taste is just "off" for some reason (obviously something to do with the brewing process).

I agree with whoever said about finding more interesting soft drinks. Alcohol free cider can be decent, albeit quite sweet. Kopperberg Pear is nice.

I’ve tried most and haven’t enjoyed any of them, I’d rather a Coke Zero if I’m driving than any of them.

That's
I dont think it's any different to the real Becks.
I agree but that's the problem for me.

If you don't like the regular beer you probably won't like the alcohol free version either.

Guinness is the best of all of them I've tried. Most taste like watered down beer unfortunately.

Northern Monk Holy Faith (available in Morissons) is one of the best readily available low alcohol craft beers.

I'm also quite partial to the Corona Cero which, once you add a wedge of lime, doesn't taste much different from it's alcoholic alternative

Lots of the IPAs are nice...Athletic, Infinite etc. The 0% lagers like Heineken etc are fine, as long as they're super-cold. Haven't tried the Guinness but I'm told it's very good.

I used to drink lots of 0% beer when I first quit booze 3 years ago, sort of like a "crutch" (I still drank them just as fast as I would a normal beer) but now I barely have it at all. It's been one of the best decisions I've made (y)
