Benzema leaving Real Madrid

I think he's going to be well aware of the mockery surrounding him over not winning a trophy in his career.

Shearer gets mocked for his lack of trophies all the time, and he actually won the Premier League.

I think he'd jump at the chance of joining Real Madrid if they were seriously interested.
They've won at least one trophy in something like 26 of the last 30 seasons.

Unlike Bayern Munich and PSG, there's at least a thin veneer of respect around Real Madrid's trophies because they're competing with another club regularly.

I could be wrong, but I think he'd take a league title over "just" being the top scorer in England in the last 30 years.
He talks about/is asked about the record all the time because it's the only thing he's really competing for at Tottenham.
Yeah he is well aware, I just think he really does have a huge eye on that record. I think if he hangs on another year at spurs if they won’t sell to United or Chelsea etc then he will go there on a free next season and does everything in his power to win trophies then.

If Real Madrid do come seriously calling then of course it would be hard for him to turn down

I'm not sure it needs balls, the premier league playing for Spurs is loads tougher than La Liga at Madrid in terms of quality of opposition. There'd be big pressure in the champions league of course
I did mean balls as in move to a different country.

Another player heading to Saudi Arabia for a mega contract. I doubt he will be the last over the next few years.

It’s going to be an interesting summer at Real Madrid. It seems Bellingham is all done, so who else goes there?

Going to Man Utd or Chelsea doesn't guarantee a trophy these days. He'd either have to go to City or abroad to Madrid/Bayern. Don't think he'll ever win a trophy if he stays at Spurs and the goalscoring record is meaningless without any silverware to show for it. There's no obvious answer for what he will want to do but he definitely needs to leave Spurs.

I don't think it's the same as back in the 80s though. Sure there's always the language issue, but players are surrounded by agents, and all kids of people nowadays. I don't think it's a big deal. Plus English is probably pretty prevalent in foreign teams nowadays with the multi national make up of squads.
