Before the Norwich game I said we needed 3 pts from the next 2 games

It’s the nature of the league. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if we won the next 4 or 5 and got in touch with the top six again. It’s why you can’t write seasons off so early. I’ve never subscribed to that line of thinking. You’re in it until you’re not.

We would be in the play-offs, you would have to assume.

There is an argument, I think nano made, that the injuries haven't effected us because our first 11 are as mediocre as our second 11. I don't agree that the injuries haven't effected us. We played several games without a striker, we have missed Jones for several games andLenihan and Smith have been missed. You then add in the inability to rotate and keep sharp the players that you do have available, then yes we would have had more points.
For me the big points are:

1 - 1/3rd of a season without a striekr
2 - no selection cohesion, so units haven’t been able to learn to play together
3 - CM without Hackney makes it difficult to play out
4 - 5 players have played left back 4 players have played RB
5 - all our pace lost at the same time

All those factors cost us points.

Positive is that Rav got game time and has cemented himself as a CB, and a couple of players like Silvera have got minutes that they wouldn’t have got, which will progress them a bit quicker

Howson,Hackney, Forss,Mcgree,Coburn, Latte Lath, O Brien have all had prolonged spells out and have definitely been missed.
The only players not to be missing for long periods (through injury, late signing, international duty) are Glover, Jamie Jones, Rav, Barlaser, Greenwood and Gilbert. Everyone else has been in and out the available squad

Too many posters assuming Norwich with 11 men would have run out easy winners, not the case at all, you see plenty of teams go hard at us for the first 30 minutes try to score, blow themselves out then sit back hoping to survive.

Nobody knows what would have happened, even allowing for 10 men the fall off in the Norwich performance will have been alarming for their supporters.
We were actually starting to get a grip on the game in the 5 mins before the sending off. As you say, who knows how it would have progressed?
But the red card did come at the perfect time 🙂

I don't care how the wins over Norwich and QPR came about, I'm just relieved they did.
Plymouth and Stoke were momentum in entirely the wrong direction, having lost two of the 3 prior fixtures too.

I am hopeful that fixtures against Brum away and Blackburn at home see us build. The Play offs are obviously beyond us, but a good run now would breed some confidence before a very tough final 4 fixtures.

I'd love to think a little like Karanka's first half season, that a recovery and some forward momentum could take us into a much more positive season.
There was some very good recruitment that next summer in Bamford, Tomlin, Vossen, Clayton, Kike, Fredericks, Nsue.

We’ve pretty much snuffed out the chance of getting dragged into it now. No wsy do 3 of the bottom 5 go 1.5pts/game while we lose all our remaining 10 games.

there is an outside chance we could start to pressure the play off spots, maybe 10% chance right now, that’ll be over if we don’t win Tuesday and we will be back to preparing for next season again
I agree and we should be looking to finish the season strongly to prepare for next in any case, you can’t switch it on and off.
