That was truly a wanton display of indifference and a 110% complete lack of effort.
I can only think of Ramirez being another case in point.
I can't recall other players turning on a performance like that.
 
Of course, it doesn't really matter in the end. He did some great stuff for us and was part of our most successful squad ever.

As much as he was poor v Wigan, he didn't leave under the same cloud as Viduka or Merson, both of which are also playing, imho.

And if we're being objective, Emerson and Ravanelli deserve more criticism too.
 
I’d give Emmo a pass to a degree he clearly had issues in a foreign country he never played for any other club In this country.
I’m still sceptical that he’ll come to be honest.

Me too, I'm sure more than a couple of these players will discover that they have something 'more important' near the time, given that its so far away. But it will be a great event regardless.
 
I don't think viduka left under a cloud. I think he got a bit of unfair critisicm while he was here about only playing well when his contract was up to be renewed. But his departure didn't really raise that much ire, even though he went to the Geordies.
I also think Emerson pretty much gets a free pass. Only player we've had that went AWOL as far as I can recall. Say what you like about ziege and Merson, they always put in 100% on the field.

Is Higgy playing? Him and Mustoe were the unsung heroes of Robbos teams.

Love the Yak me. Class player and I reckon he might be a stand out in this game for some reason

I was, albeit much younger, deeply hurt at his decision. Not to leave, but to go where he went. I think in that season 2006-2007 that might have been the best season long performance I’ve ever seen from a single Boro player. We’d have been relegated by a record margin without him, imho.
 
Hi hope this turns into a Super Bowl affair of an afternoon. 3 or 4 ‘halves’ of football seperated by on pitch performances of live local music. I’d pay an increased entrance fee.
 
Talking about inept performances anyone recall Pallys last game for Boro at AP before his move to Man u ? It was well reported je fell out big time with Sir Bruce and he just ambled through the game . clearly didnt want to be there. Sure it was the first game of the season against wolves... From recent stories a move to Liverpool had fallen through so he was clearly a bit miffed

If you think Viduka only played well when his contract was up for review you must have missed his first 2 seasons, we'd of been nowhere near the UEFA Cup Final without him.
