BBC Tees have wound up Chuba Akpom

After that recent report of Gibson being caught up in that development scandal and basically being a c*** then it's no surprise that he falls out with people. The shambolic way the club has been run and the way they treat fans, and seemingly players, then maybe that points to where the blame lies.
You can’t be all things to all men

FFS, we have some right drama queens on here. We're a decent Championship club, there's about 60 odd clubs who'd swap places with us in a heartbeat.
Give over.
We are better than a decent Championship club and have PL history/potential/ambition/periodic expectation.
We finished 4th last season under an extremely bright manager.
The fans have backed the club in buying record season tickets at very high prices.
The expectation is to progress.

All that some fans/posters are saying is that it has been a very underwhelming transfer window so far and that we have massive holes to fill to stand still, let alone progress.

You're literally arguing my point for me.

I was responding the poster who claimed we are run in a "...shambolic way".

Most of your points I agree with, we're a club loads of people would aspire to be like but if you believe the poster I was responding to, he made out we were like a cross between Derby, Bury and Wigan or something, not a decent Championship club (which we are at the moment) with PL history and ambitions.

I think you are taking one poster and maybe generalising too broadly.

Apols - I am guilty of assuming your position based on my perception of some of your recent posts which seem very generous towards the club hierarchy.
I shouldn't have done that.

Not sure i'm generous to the club hierarchy, more pointing out that we rarely (if ever) have all the facts, and also most situations we discuss aren't unique to our club but are more about the world of football these days.

was that the new house and private golf course he built? That was about five years ago wasn't it?

Huh, I'm responding to the poster who claimed that we were run in a "shambolic way".
We are run in a shambolic way. We have a dictator at the top that regularly makes decisions that go against the manager's wishes. We hire and fire managers with no continuity so every new manager needs a rebuild of the squad. We spend fortunes at time letting bad managers buy bad players and when we get a good manager we fail to back them. We get promoted and nearly lose the manager while doing so and then sack him at the first sign of trouble next season and replace him with the guy that puts the cones out. He hires people that have local connections ahead of anyone foreign. Recruitment has been a joke for over a decade. We have a weak squad relying on loans which means every season we get to kick off with half a team. This is all just the football stuff. The way fans are treated, ticket prices, service in the concourse, kit being unavailable, tat in the club shop at premium prices etc is even more shambolic.

We aren't at risk of going under because Gibson keeps us afloat but if we weren't run so shambolicly we might have had a few more seasons of PL income to keep us afloat instead. The benchmark doesn't have to be Wigan and Derby.

To say the club is run in a shambolic way is just ludicrous.
New(ish) stadium, top class training facility, cat 1 academy that regularly produces first team players, many who have been sold on in multi million pound deals.

We can question some of the football decisions, but aside probably from Woodgate & Agnew most people outside of Boro thought we’d made decent appointments, for one reason or another they generally haven’t worked out.
Transfer policy has been hindered by manager turnover and I believe a lack of knowledge/direction from Gibson & Bauser. Gibson is guilty of being a fan, letting his heart rule his head, the signing of Assombalonga for a record fee and wages is a prime example.
To think Gibson has control over nik naks in the shop, kit delays is just plain stupidity. He’s running business’s worth 100’s of millions of pounds, it’s the CEO’s job to look after day to day running of the club.
Bauser I think has a lot to answer for, he’s the one who’s been negotiating transfers, wages, kit manufacture contracts, appointing head of retail etc. He’s isn’t very good at his job, he’s a yes man which suited Gibson, now I think Gibson see’s the error of his ways, hence the appt of ‘Head of Football’ to at least give some guidance on recruitment of players, coaches and take the sentiment out of it. The Giles transfer a prime example, Boro had their valuation, Luton gazumped it, Boro refused to get in to a bidding war, move on, a bit like Man City, different level they just move on to other targets, it’s not worked out too bad for them.
Abuser’s still got his job, because Gibson’s got him entrenched on the EFL, thus has a hefty say in policy, it’s common knowledge that Gibson wants reform of the basket case financial mess that is the EFL having Bauser in place on the board gives him influence. A bit rich if you ask me given in my opinion Boro have been one of the main protagonists in basket case financiall’s, Assombolonga a case in point.
I think the club is in the best place it’s been since relegation, structure is there to build from, Gibson now isn’t the only voice on football direction.
Bauser will be first out of the door if we establish ourselves back in the PL, he will have expired his usefulness, until then we have put up with cheap tat in the club shop and kit issues
