Was thinking will he get into this team. Who would be dropped. Does this mean hernandez will be going back to Norwich

Hernandez could well be rotated with Taylor, who hasn't played much football lets be honest, for the LWB role with Bola being out and Kokolo looking like he's going on loan.

I think Sporar and Balogun will be first-choice but think he'll rotate them with Hernandez/Watmore/Connolly during each game.

Still won't surprise me if Hernandez does return to Norwich though.

Hope not, he’s a fantastic player
one we should definitely try and tie down
He's a funny one Hernandez. He can look excellent on the ball and I think he's quite an intelligent player but no end product. No goals or assists and yet he's had plenty of game-time really.

I also accept though that he's been asked to play wing-back and as a striker, whereas he's more suited to playing in a wide attacking role.

In some ways he reminds me Braithwaite, another player we never managed to get the best out of.

Not a brilliant stat but he has got 1 goal to be fair, he scored against Forest away under Warnock.

I like Hernandez, he offers pace, makes defenders jittery, his unpredictability is an asset for me and despite his lack of goals (clearly he has mitigating circumstances) he knows how to finish, he has had goals disallowed and shots saved, a useful asset to cover several positions from WB to anywhere across the front 3 and offers a useful option from the bench if chasing a game. Hope he stays, I am amazed Norwich have not yet recalled him in truth.

Yes agree coluka, as i would like to see Uche stay too, but could understand him needing to go for regular 1st team football

Sporar and Connolly up top - Balogan on the left replacing Tav? Would give us more goalscoring potential - our achilleas heel. If we can bring in one more quality ball playing midfielder to rotate with Howson we would have a really good shot at promotion. A top class keeper and I would be sticking a few quid on us for top 2

I think Balogun, Connolly, Watmore and Sporar will all get plenty of time on the pitch, but the Balogun and Connolly will get the most.

Wilder will pick who is doing the business the most, so it will be interesting to see who responds.

Poor old Watmore. He got bombed out last season when all the loan signings joined.

He still 'saw them off' and won his place back. It must be a kick in the teeth having 3 loan forwards ahead of him (I'm guessing with loan fees/wages and assurances of game time).

I think we look a far better side when he plays. Hopegully he will go again and 'see these lot off'.

I'm sorry.... I have a bit of a soft spot for Watmore with his work ethic etc 😂

why are people talking like we have a front three not a front two?

Only two of the strikers could realistically play at once, with two on the bench. Tav is playing left central midfield, not on the left, and Balogun can't play CM and there's only a front two for Hernandez to cover.

For me Balogun and Sporar will start, I would suspect Connelly will be the go to first sub

I don't think Watmore will miss out on too much game time.

Wilder likes to rotate his forwards in the second half, and Watmore has came off after around 70 minutes in most matches under Wilder.

Even if somebody else is starting ahead of him, I expect he'll come on with about 20 minutes to stake a claim for the next match.

Hernandez has been coming on as our second striker recently, I expect that will now change to Balogun/Connolly/Watmore.

Unless he's not recovered from Covid, I expect Watmore will start on Saturday.

True. I just think we are far better when he plays. You can see how much it effects us when he goes off.

Then again im guessing Balogun and Connolly are of a similar style.

I know Watmore isn't and never has been an actual CF (some big misses). Yet he's gotta be a pain to play against. I imagine he's the last person you want to see coming off the bench as a tiring CB. So still have a part to play.

Yeah, we don't want to revert back to 'square pegs in round holes'. One thing which has impressed me most about Wilder has been his insistence on playing players in their preferred roles.

This....

We've played with two up top and a midfield three in every game so far? Think we may have reverted to 4-4-2 at times during a couple of games maybe?

It will be Sporar, Balogun, Connelly and Watmore competing for the two striking positions. Uche to leave and potentially Hernandez.

I think Balogun likes it into feet and either hold up and dribble or run at people. Connelly likes to work on the shoulder for the ball in behind. Balogun I believe has better link up play, certainly from what I've seen. Balogun style-wise is more Bergkamp, while Connelly is more Owen.........not saying either player is that quality by the way
