Azaz

Azaz played some nice through balls, maybe use to playing with an actual striker at Plymouth.

Downside looks a bit weak, slow and sloppy in possession. Hard judging him in our make shift team I think.

I sat with the Mrs and afterwards she asked me if i liked Azaz, i asked why and she said that throughout the whole game my reaction to him was either "FFS Azaz" or praising him, she said it went one way then the other all game.

Hackney had a poor game i felt.

My personal feeling is that it’ll take a while for Azaz to adjust. No disrespect to Plymouth but he was probably a bigger fish in a smaller pond.

Bit different here. I also think he’ll benefit of better players around him. Certainly ones with pace and a striker up top to play off.

He looks silky at times but I think we were just disjointed in the final 3rd today. We looked frenetic at times. But we’ve got Hackney playing advanced when it’s not his best position.

Greenwood isn’t a striker.

Thought Forss was very good today. The one cool head in the final 3rd.
Not sure what Greenwood is. Would like to see Azaz actually break into a jog instead of hiding behind players.

You have to remember that Barlaser, Rogers, Engel and Silvera are THE worst signings in the history of Boro, ever.

Couple of games in, written off.

Azaz is just following in the long line........
We'll just keep waiting then until these players all turn into promotion / Premier type players then. You see, to go up, that's what you need and we have maybe 2 of that ability.

We really need to be giving him a run of games as a 10. I don't think he's suited to playing out on the left, even though he has been given the freedom to drift inside.

I do remember there was one moment during the 1st half where I think he turned his man and almost beat the last defender with a bit of skill but ended up losing the ball. Was just a little glimpse of what he's capable of.

The problem is our lack of threat up front.
Every team knows that we have no pace and therefore no threat of anyone running in behind their defence .
The only reason Greenwood managed it yesterday was because Sunderland played a slightly high line , for the reason I've just said .
This means as soon as our midfield push out and play the ball into the final 3rd a central defender is there to put pressure on whoever is receiving the ball , whether it be Greenwood , Azaz , or Hackney.
Jones being out injured basically gives us no consistent threat .

Azaz is going to a great asset for us in the future. Played three delightfully weighted through balls in the first half. His all round game was a bit sloppy yesterday as i still think he's finding his place in the side. Good things to come (y)
They were lovely passes, had they been from Hackney or Howson they wouldn't have gone unnoticed.

How many more players are we going to slag off after being here for no longer than the proverbial "5 minutes " , so pleased for the lad .
Mind you he must be wondering what he's walked into.

That is sadly a trait amongst some of the posters on this board. They seem to think that if a player isn’t up and running and playing a key role in the team from the off then they get criticism. No recognition that players take time to settle into a completely new area with strange team mates. Small errors become big ones, but it’s clear that he is a good player and we have an asset on our hands.
