Its 1972/3, because Boro have no red chest band and that is a sparse crowd probably only 6,000. Crowds dropped off that season pretty badly. A lot of low scoring games.

It's the bottom of the Holgate, with part of the Chicken run in the background.

The crowd inside the stadium was policed with police, not stewards.

I don't remember going to the game so the young lad with the dark brown mop hair was not me, but I think I looked like that in 1973.

I have seen the photo at the Art bank in Saltburn. A guy used ot sit on a chair greeting people when they went in, sometimes playing a musical instrument, he was called Robin Dale and I think its one of his photos. He photographed in South Bank.

I'm not in the picture but I will have either been stood at the wall to the left of the goal looking from the Holgate or just behind the barrier on the left hand side of the walkway.

Interesting. It's a little odd that those seats are so full for such a small crowd.

We played Cardiff twice n 1973. The first being in the 1972/73 season (7,686) when we won 2-0 and that looks like when the picture was taken. The second being in the 1973/74 season when we 3-0. Attendance 18,034
