Here in Yearby got some amazing pics with my phone. Seems to have gone now, but that was stunning

in Redcar , I dont' see any colours , but I see an extremely unusual pattern in the sky directly above. Like a star at the centre and streams of cloud emanating out all direcitons , but I'm not sure it's actually cloud

That was most likely the lights. I needed night sight on my camera to bring out the colours where we are.

well im not sure, the star turned out to be Arcturus but the streams seeming to emanate from it were bizarre. Its's gone now but I've never seen that in 20 years of being interested in the heavens above.

That was the Aurora. I went and got these just outside Darlo. They looked like wispy clouds to the naked eye.

Pretty impressive in York tonight. Mainly reds and pinks, a bit of green. Looked better on my camera than to the naked eye.
The rays were amazing

First time I've kind of seen them. I could've, but
1) Flight back from NY. My work colleague tells me 'You should've woken up, the Northern lights were amazing' No - YOU should've woken me up, twt. So annoyed!
2) Holiday to Reykjavik. Day one, all trips sold out. Day 2-Home, too cloudy. Didn't see any whales on the whale trip either

So I'm happy I've seem the lights at last now! :)

I popped over to the stray between marske and Redcar for some darkness and it was really impressive to the naked eye. My phone pics don’t do it justice at all. So pleased I got out, everytime I’ve tried to look previously I’ve missed it.

I still don't get it, Arcturus is south of Redcar and about 75deg altitude , I saw no colours , just a radiant wispy cloud as if 12 spokes of cloud were emanating out of the centre and going some way distance like not to the horizon but at least half way . I had my 15x 70 skymaster binocs too and the same with or without
