Atmosphere Today

For a sell out I noticed loads of empty seats in the East stand, especially toward the north east, must have been 100s. Maybe people bought ages ago and then could not get due to train strikes?

empty seats all over apart from the South Stand, very strange. I'm not sure why the club couldn't have sold those extra 8 or so seats on each row up to the Studio box in the South Stand there was more than enough segregation

I think away fans can help Boxing Day atmosphere but they didn't today.
Definitely a big difference between Forest last season and Wigan today. The Forest fans tried to be noisy but that resulted in Red Faction being absolutely brilliant that day.

It was really flat in comparison today. I did noticed several part times around me as well. That was also a factor.

Compared to past seasons was subdued, if it hadn't been 4 the South Stand would have been very quiet. Even the Wigan Fans mentioned it.

It’s because I was there.

I’m a part timer who lives hundreds of miles away, only comes up three times a year and sits on his hands in the east stand. And only politely applauds each goal.

Atmosphere seemed fine to me - I’ve been in that ground when it was a lot worse….
Well done fella hope you enjoyed the day 👍

I think RF are the answer to getting the stadium bouncing. If they sang more of the traditional songs then I think a lot more fans would follow their lead and join in. Its clear that very few fans want to join in with a lot of their songs. They maybe happy just singing by themselves but I think they could conduct and lead the Riverside if they changed their repertoire.

Lads deserved better for that performance.
Shouldn't just be about 1 area of the ground, North Stand very quiet & nothing from West or East stand .

I thought it was a superb crowd which shows that the fan base have faith in Michael Carrick.

I think the atmosphere was not particularly high because we were comfortable throughout.

Maybe season ticket holders who couldn't go?

I think it was partly down to Wigan not bringing a big following and also the fact that if we're honest, we expected to win the game.

If we'd been playing Sheff Utd, who'd have no doubt brought a big following then I think it would have been much livelier.

It also didn't help that they didn't switch the music off 5 minutes before the teams came out, which would have given both sets of supporters the chance to build up the atmosphere.

I don't ever buy this reasoning.

There was no music during the match, and the atmosphere was barely there for most of it.

There was plenty of opportunity to build it up after each time we scored, it just didn't.

Probably not unexpected when it was a very comfortable win against a team stuck in the relegation zone.

Half the crowd were probably hungover too.
