Ive just recieved one of the dreaded "Buff" envelopes from the D.W.P. and immediatly one thinks the worst.....with trembling fingers, heart racing, I nervously opened it and started reading
Amazingly it was the opposite of what I was expecting....It wasnt a reduction in anything but in fact news of a raise in my P.I.P
I whipped out my calculator to crunch the numbers but couldnt concentrate thinking of palm trees and azure blue waters lapping upon a white hot beach..............
I thought goodbye economy, hello buisness class then when I looked at the calculator screen ,my heart sank as my rise worked out at ...........4p a day..or 30p a week

I crumbled into my chair and thought "b***r"..£1.20 A MONTH...why do they bother?

I remember getting a giro in 1980 for 2p. I think the stamp on it was 11p.

To be fair to the DWP they have finally sorted my mum out in the last 6 months.

She has had years of ill health and had to go through the full application every year and the stress of interviews/Medicaid and the potential drama of reductions and appeals

well this last time they have not only upped her money but also given her the top level disability for a car (she wasn’t getting anything before) and also told her they won’t be reviewing for 10 years now.

so from her point of view I can’t fault them this time

however that being said I know this has been a very rare exception to the rule

This thread has taken a very dark turn since I looked earlier. 25p for a10p bar of chocolate. Its time I started taking an interest in economics.

Looking on the brightside every 3 weeks you can buy a 1st class stamp, always a positive if you look hard enough.

By the time the letter had finished being read inflation had robbed the profit.

Infact it cost more to read the letter than to bin it immediately.

I think this is typical of our society, someone comes into a bit of money and all the jealous ones come out of the woodwork to scoff and mock. You enjoy your £1.20 a month Keelo, it's more than the nurses got.

I think they have calmed down now as mentioned. My best friend who had to go through a full on medical every 6 months or so with a view to encouraging him to go back to work. He has never been able to walk since birth but he had to go through this drama the threat of losing money each time as if by some magic his legs that have never and will never work would miraculously work on the day of the medical assessment. It is really cruel.

Is this posted on the wrong thread FC. In any event, give your friend my best, no one should be treated in that fashion.
