Guess i'm in the minority that quite like our new badge
Newy that is absolutely rubbish - you must know that surely. The Transporter Bridge was not done on the cheap and was cutting edge design at the time. It replaced an overcrowded ferry with a flying ferry. It was a solution in many ways similar to Tower Bridge, London still as much an icon now as when it was opened in 1886. Your bridge would have meant destroying much of the town it was built to serve.
The Transporter was built towards the end of the age of sailing ships, amazingly enough it was not tall enough for one vessel that lost the tip of its masts sailing underneath. How on earth could your bridge have been built to attain that sort of height from land that is at or below sea level at on either bank of the river? When built in Edwardian times there were few that could have predicted a future of dependency on motor vehicles. How could early cars have climbed up to a height of over 200 feet without having to struggle up an immense ramp and then down one on the other side.
I'd be fully behind a fat crocodile going down in a hail of 'Matrix style' slow motion bullets.I would have went for something based on this..

So there would have been proper hell on! Gold acorns and a blue wild boar.. jerkoninarnya!
Nah.. a boar passant in front of seven acorns leaved and stalked ‘support and finish’I'd be fully behind a fat crocodile going down in a hail of 'Matrix style' slow motion bullets.
.....with a suitable motto.
That Villa badge looks naff, like something from the 60’s. I actually prefer our new badge, I think it’s much more modern than the old one.
Job done that, its perfect.Sometimes I do stop and think "Is our current badge THAT bad?". I do quite like this one though. I imagine its one of your inventions newy? I'd happily have this next, we are due a new one in the next few years.
In principal, I wouldn't mind that.Job done that, its perfect.
In 2026, stick something underneath like 150th Anniversary, or 1876-2026.
personally, I love the Transporter (Bridge/crane). It is unique and does symbolise the area and our industrial heritage. I do think that a future badge should include it.
Who knew Ethel the tea lady was such a cack handed bint with an obsession with Sir Lancelot. It was someone employed at the Riverside.
Rumour has it it was Grant Leadbitter on the back of the team coachIt was someone employed at the Riverside.
Yes surely it will be replaced by 2026, hadn't thought of that.I'm pragmatic about what a new badge could look like. I'd prefer a return to the 86 badge with a change of year. What i am sure of is how bad the current badge is. I really hope they can change it for the 150 year celebrations.
@fmttmadmin can you bring this up at the next supporters meeting please? I'd also be interested to know if and when any planning starts for it.
It’s not my work.. it misses the mark. wouldn’t have been that bothered if we had went for this.. but it certainly isn’t an improvement on the 86 badge. It looks naff and more dated imo.Sometimes I do stop and think "Is our current badge THAT bad?". I do quite like this one though. I imagine its one of your inventions newy? I'd happily have this next, we are due a new one in the next few years.
