Ashley fletcher

Thought he was unfit & miles off , which shows how desperate we are up front , best way to get him to speed however is probably games , as once he is there he is the only option to bring people into games . Akpom is just a bad buy league 1 player, Britt , not bothered

I've suggested it in another thread, but I really think we should consider putting Mendez-Laing through the middle when he's match fit. He's not a stranger to that position and he'd offer a lot more than the other 3.

This whole "Fletcher leading the line stuff" - i'm not buying it at all. Scraping the barrel if thats our aim. He's never shown any ability to hold a ball up etc - his 1st touch is rotten which I saw numerous times last night.

Lets face it, none of our main 3 strikers (Akpom, Britt, Fletcher) have performed well on a consistent basis. I would not be too disappointed if we had an entirely new set of strikers next season. I think Warnock will give Fletcher a run of games, and I would be delighted if he performed well and got a new contract - but it is up to him to show that he deserves to be in the team.

I’m hoping he gets a run of games as he’ll get a few goals, but the other players around him will also benefit from his presence.

I also think he’s worth a new contract. It may not be at the wage he’s currently on, but who is going to offer that elsewhere?

He got to go with fletcher, I think britt is poor might score 15 a season at best but misses far to many easy chances. On his day he will get his goals but far to many bad games. I think warnock was using his man management skills giving him the captaincy but britt hasn't risen to the challenge so u can't blame warnock for trying.

True Dan.

We missed out with not signing a striker in the transfer window presumably because there wasn't anyone available at our level, but Warnock knows the capabilities (or lack) of our "goal scorers.
We'll settle for the pen scored last night, but we all know that we still need a specialist in that position. How about Marc Bola, he seems a confident enough lad and that's a big asset ?

It's understandable given such a long injury lay off, but I don't think he's looked anywhere near up to it since coming back.

I don't think he played well last night, and he was very lucky that the penalty wasn't saved.

But I thought he was good last season and I hope he can get back to that.

In the end it was a shyte pelanty matched equally be some shocking goalkeeping. Both parties should be embarrassed by the whole event.
wonder if the linesman would have had the balls to allow us to take it again as the keeper was off his line when he almost saved it

Sounds like he's going to get a good run in the team going off Warnock's comments last night.
It'll be hard to get a run as we have too many games coming thick and fast and fitness-wise he won't be up to it. I doubt he will start Saturday to be honest.

He was a big improvement on Britt, but that's damning with faint praise. I think we should try and keep him, he's improved every season he's been here and will get better under Warnock's guidance and played as a target man (remember Monk and Pulis saw him as a sort of pound shop Rashford!). Not his fault he was part of a dodgy deal where we once again over paid.......you can just imagine the conversations in board rooms throughout the country....'We've had an offer for x striker......who from?....Middlesbrough......add on 50%!'

Fletcher is decent footballer and does have quality but as mentioned could be a bit more aggressive, he plays some nice stuff linking up with his team mates not just a goal scorer, Britt definitely looks better with Fletcher
