Ashes - 4th Test

Is the forecast really that bad (apart from Saturday). On the sky commentary, they said should get a reasonable amount of play tomorrow. England should aim for a lead of around 200 and then put the Aussies back in unless we are bowled out beforehand.

Finishing at 6.30 today is ridiculous. They know the weather forecast and even if better than expected loss of play is guaranteed. Just bloody play on for an extra hour while got the weather.
That’s what I don’t understand especially as they got the weather update.

This is true. But it’s all irrelevant if weather that bad Sat/Sun as can’t extend if not on the field.

Like say it’s 100% guaranteed we lose more overs than could have been bowled in extended session tonight. Cricket is dying off and they need exciting matches like these Ashes to excite people. Having this then a washout draw is self-defeatist. The old arcane ruling bodies and rules need to get a grip and modernise.

I suspect if we were Australian we wouldn’t be wanting time added on in lieu of what might be lost.

The quirks of weather are an integral part of Test cricket, for example decisions at the toss or bowling changes are taken on the basis of over head conditions.

Can't complain too much. We have really 'moved the game on' and are in an excellent position. First time this series, where one team is well and truly on top. If it does go to a fifth test, bring it on. BTW. Cummins looks absolutely knackered!

And also is it fair in the context of a team who's been in the field all day being expected to prolong the agony. If this is implemented I can see even lower over rates.

The rain breaks and delays will just aid england as the bowlers will be constantly fresh and be able to bowl full steam ahead all the time
