Can anyone tell me what the Scottish First Minister has said to create all this fuss and accusations of hate crime
 
Not really been following but it’s a new law isn’t it ? That is weakly worded and difficult to prove. Something about “stirring up hatred”

On that basis if I called all Sunderland fans a mackem bar steward on here I could be charged.

That’s my understanding. Dont shout at me if I’m wrong

Imagine if it was that stringent they can only say nice things about the english

Yeah that’s about it. The wording in the act is very weak and a lot of it is subjective. Things such as “likely to cause offence”.

Also if someone makes a completely fictitious report against you and the police decide to investigate, it would stay on your record as an allegation against you, regardless of whether you did anything or not. Could have some quite serious ramifications for those who require an enhanced police check for their jobs.

If this prevents idiots on social media spouting hatred thinking they're safe because they're behind a computer screen then surely to an extent, this is a good thing.

They actually introduced a specific law regarding football crowds in 2012, The Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012, which was unsurprisingly repealed in 2018.

From the wording, every comment you see online that’s anti English from a Scotsman living up there is potentially a criminal offence now, 😁 🤣
