I know there has been previous discussions about this but I can't find the thread. I took a break for a couple of months but have been really inspired lately to try new things with art. Just thought I would share a few of my drawing and hopefully get the chance to view some other people's work. I'm not a professional artist(as you can probably tell) but I find it relaxing and keeps my mental health stable.20220223_074812.jpg20220223_104934.jpg20220221_141005.jpg20220205_170240.jpg20220202_145132.jpg20220204_170855.jpg

Thx mate - I actually drew both on the iPad
I have a graphics tablet that attaches to my laptop but I find I spend more time messing about with brushes and opacity etc etc than actual drawing and always end up back using pencil(or coloured pencil) and paper. I tend to only use digital art and graphics tablet to edit reference photos especially if I'm doing an animal portrait(these are some of my animal portraits)20210831_125941.jpg20210830_082512.jpg20210819_173531.jpg

wow - they are spot on!

I used to paint portraits back in the early 90's? - but my what a palaver - so much so I gave up altogether - recently after covid drove my business into the ground - I have found a second wind - I rarely paint as it is, when I find an image - I'll post up.
They main thing for me is I struggled to find a style - I think I'm zeroing in. It is fantastically relaxing when done as a hobby - less so ( for me) as a business.

I have a mental block with painting for some reason. I only do it as a hobby although I would love to do it as a career eventually but don't think I'm quite at that level yet. I switch styles and try new things, I tend to do a short series of something(animal portraits on black paper, ultra realism, colour portraits of animals) then move onto another short series, keeps it fresh and me inspired.

Another Update on some of my latest artwork the flower drawing the pencils are drew onto a child like picture I drew, was a idea I had been working on for a while. The folder paper and pencil picture, the pencil and the fold in the paper are both drew onto a flat piece of paper. And the picture of a hand is my hand and my daughters hand from from a photo when she was a baby.

Do you do these for people or is it just for pleasure?

I would love to get a portrait done of my son's dog.

Just for pleasure now mate. I did do it for a while offering commissions but it really effected my mental health and made me ill as I put way way too much pressure on myself and aimed for unreasonable levels of perfection, I got the stage I would spend 10-12 hours on a drawing that I wasn't happy with it so would I rip it up and start again and charge about £30-40 to basically cover expenses and materials, it put me off drawing for a long time and I still haven't got the passion back for it that I had a few year back. I now just draw what I fancy when I'm in the mood for it and don't put the pressure on myself.
