Armed police go on strike

I think that’s beyond doubt now as the met have even admitted it themselves.

This shocking case proves it - bianca Williams

I don’t believe that case proves anything.

From the article you linked:

“The Met has said that the stop, at about 1.25pm on Saturday, which was made by Territorial Support Group officers patrolling the area due to an increase in violence involving weapons, raised “no misconduct issues”.

“It said the vehicle had blacked-out windows, was “driving suspiciously”, including being on the wrong side of the road, and sped off before voluntarily stopping. The statement said that after nothing was found on the occupants’ person or in the vehicle, no arrests were made and the pair were released.

“On Monday evening, the Met released an updated statement saying the couple were both handcuffed “due to the officers’ views, as to the manner in which the vehicle was being driven, that the vehicle was attempting to evade police, and due to the driver refusing to leave his vehicle”.

As for Starmer and Khans views - their only concern is not upsetting their electorate and losing votes.

And what if the person didn't understand English or was hard of hearing or was under the influence or having a medical episode? Just shrug shoulders and move on?
Exactly, it’s a very difficult job and sometimes mistakes are made, like in any profession, difference being in their job, mistakes can be made which cost people their lives. Which does not mean officer has murdered someone.

Thankfully armed police are highly trained.

If someone was having a medical episode and happened to be pulled over by armed police (let’s say they just happened to be nearby) the officers wouldn’t automatically approach with weapons drawn and would likely realise the person was having a medial episode.

If the person was hard of hearing or spoke another language I’d like to think of they had several cops pointing a gun at them then they’d be intelligent enough to show their hands and not make any sudden movements.

But you raised a good point, they do a very difficult job in sometimes unexpected circumstance where decisions have to be made in a split second and sometimes they can go wrong.

So who is committing the crimes in this area ?
Criminals obviously! But of course the vast majority of people in those areas aren’t criminals!

Really not sure what point you’re trying to make there.

your making an awful lot of awful presumptions that dont add up

if they had lived there for decades, a mosque would be on their doorstep or within walking distance why would several 'asian lads' be in a car
Maybe the mosque is 0.5 miles / 1 mile / 2miles away etc, Believe it or not some people will choose to drive that distance, especially late at night or in the winter and for various other reasons.

Genuinely can’t believe the stupidity of some of the points your making.

What reference or evidence do you have to make this sweeping statement below ?

I’d probably refer to the thousands of Asian households I’ve been in whilst policing in Bradford! Whereby it isn’t uncommon to find >£100k cars parked on streets of <£100k houses. Many of the residents had sufficient wealth to move to a more desirable area with bigger houses etc but chose to remain in the same area as that’s where all of their friends and family lived. Of course there isn’t anything wrong with that.

I’m taking my children swimming now so won’t reply for several hours.

I'm 35 years old and never been stopped by the police, never pulled over, have you?
A few times.

Once when I was walking home with my pal in the early hours singing the flake advert song.

Another time when I was 16 and hitchhiking on the A19 at 5am.

When me and my friend were being stupid smartasres and acting deliberately suspicious in front of a police van at 1am in a shopping precinct near Whitechapel. The police chased us down, and handcuffed us face down on the floor before questioning us.

Finally, I was pulled over in my black pick-up because a black pick-up had been involved in a bank robbery a few miles away that afternoon. I was with my wife and baby granddaughter but the car was still checked and I was questioned for a while.

As a young white male I was pulled over 8 times in my 20s and usually as a result of the time of night I was out I'd imagine.

Had I done anything wrong? No.

Was I bothered? No.

Did I moan and get upset about it? No.

They were simply doing their job and they should be able to do that without fear.

Bloke was a wrong un, driving a car, got stopped, with a gun. Got shot dead. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

You either want a safe society or you want the Wild West….?

Edit. That doesn’t mean the police have impunity, but as said, you wanna play big boy cnt with a gun, you may well end up dead. Get over it.

He didn't have a gun

That’s one hell of a belief system.
How about - some police don’t.
Because
Some, most certainly do
Well I suppose statistically it’s certainly possible that there are some who do.

However having met at least hundreds if not thousands of police officers I don’t believe I have ever met one who does or who would harass anyone based on their ethnicity.

So I’ll rephrase my initial statement, I don’t believe the police as an institution harass ethnic minorities.

And I believe >99% of police officers do not harass ethnic minorities.

How on earth do you know that when you met them all - did you give them a questionnaire.

And the met - institutionally racist and misogynist

Apart from that - they don’t harass anyone…..

I’ve met lots of people (non white) who believe they are being harassed - maybe it’s just one wrong un that crops up in each place.

Forces should not be policing the civilian population. Especially not armed forces.

A sad day when you are cheerleading a con-artist and a fascist conspiring to seriously undermine law and order.
Totally agree and you may find some are less tolerant and libel to act before asking.

I don’t “know”. That’s why I said “believe”. Do you understand the difference?

And that belief is based on my interactions with them, what they’ve said, how they’ve behaved, how they’ve “worked” / “policed”.

I’ve met loads of people (both white and non white) who believe they are being harassed by police, doesn’t mean they are though!

Also many people who say they are being harassed by the police, say such things because (believe it or not) - lots of people don’t like the police. Now this may come as a shock to you, but many of the people who don’t like the police because the police often attend their house looking for them, stop them, search them, arrest them etc.

You many have to sit down for this bit, most of them (believe it or not) are criminals, and so being stopped, searched, arrested etc annoys them, as it stops them committing crime.

Having read the above you will realise that I said that there are some people who often come into contact with the police who aren’t criminals. And these people may have their houses visited often, probably at unsociable hours, maybe they themselves are searched, maybe their vehicles and property are seized and it’s understandable they may have a negative perception of the police. However this is necessary to prevent crime and apprehend offenders.

And just in case you’re wondering why the police do that to people who aren’t criminals, it’s because they are closely linked (usually related to or in a relationship) with a criminal.

And believe it or not, the police often have a lot of sympathy for these people. Most of the time the police have a reasonable relationship with these people. These people like some of the cops more than others of course.

I know this, not only through working as a police officer, but also because my own grandparents have been one of those people (for decades) due to my uncle and two of my cousins criminality.
