Are people so upset…

Using this as the tipping point for Carrick to be sacked when we are sat in 7th with 14 games to go and have just brought new players into the fold is beyond crazy to me.

We might be 7th but we have 44 points from 30 games which pro rata will give us 67 points. The lowest points anyone has ever made the playoffs with is 68 and the lowest anyone has ever been promoted via the playoffs with is 70.

I.e. we're on track to miss out on the playoffs and even if we get there we're almost certainly not going to win them.

Every game gives us less time to turn things around and we're getting worse, not better. The Sunderland game isn't the only time we've been unhappy. It's been this way all season and people have been saying "we're just outside the playoffs, we're top scorers, we're unlucky" etc but we're not unlucky, were not good enough. We need to see change and we're not seeing any.

I'm really tired of Carrick saying things like "we're not panicking", "we're calm", "we were unlucky", "things just didn't go our way".

I'm not in the Carrick out camp, but he's becoming increasingly difficult to defend - his gameday strategies even more so.

We play the same way that we did against Coventry in the 2023 Play Offs. It's predictable, it's easily defended against and if the opposition can control the midfield, we're persistently on the backfoot. We're unable to kill games off consistently and we've had too many faults leading to goals.

I think you'd be hard pushed to find a fan who is still insisting on putting their rose tinted specs on.

This is another thing for me. I'm still pro-Carrick, but if we do manage to finish Top 6, I would have very little confidence in the playoffs based on our last appearance, and our current form.

The inability to not see that winger destroying Ayling was criminal. How many times have wee seen it this season Doak destroying a fullback for 30/45 mins, then the other manager changes something to deal with him (doubling up, change of formation/players).

But, Carrick just stands there with his hands in his pockets watching it

"yet again we were unlucky"

No we weren't we were outplayed. If the same thing keeps happening over and over perhaps it isn't luck.

Like the "individual mistakes" that we just need to cut out. As if we can just wave a wand and fix everything. We make lots of costly mistakes because we play a high stakes game. We put the players in a position where if they make a mistake it's costly. The players we have a not machines and they will miscontrol and play bad passes.

We struggle to play out under pressure. We are terrible off the ball defending. This is why we aren't getting promoted, not luck.

We weren't remotely outplayed. Any neutral report you read of last night's game describes two good teams going toe to toe.

We've been on the wrong side of a lot of big moments this season. We've lost more tight games than we have won. That's not to say we've been unlucky, just stating facts.

We could probably finish anywhere between 5th and 16th. Carrick isn't going to get sacked so we might as well collectively hold our nerve and keep supporting them.

But p*ssed off we've done the same thing again. Scored, looking comfortable, then turn to sh*t when a bit of pressure applied.
Whilst I think the OP was a good post and one I largely agree with, there is the glaring issue that @h_m_boro highlights.

It's happened too many times this season to be down to luck.

We`ve had worse moments, triple sickener though as it was 1. late on. 2. Incredible own goal. 3. it was Sunderland.

I think at the moment we are struggling, but the other side of the coin is we were beaten by the odd self inflicted goal.

I've always had this feeling that we should be grateful we have a a young progressive manager and backroom staff, I've very much enjoyed the football most of the time, but a bit of reality has crept in watching Mr Carrick last nights interview, he looked very shocked and worried imho. It wont do him any harm, if he wants to progress he has to look at these things and at times change his approach to the being quiet man.
This squads laid back - need a few weeks on the sick will get him out of a job before he knows it. We need players who are ever present hard to shift out of their spot and consistent.

He needs to move a lot of these wasters on if he is boss next season.

…because we lost against Sunderland?

The game I saw was winnable but yet again we were very unlucky. The deflection for the 2nd goal and the random own goal for their third.

We have been saying it for weeks that the top 4 are too far away now to catch, so we have 5th to aim for. We are 1 point away.

Yes, we’ll need to put a good run together but we have it in us. We have new lads coming into the side and after Sheffield Utd the games get a bit easier.

Or look at it another way. Now the window is over and the Lath speculation is finished we can focus on the pitch. We know who our players are for the rest of the season. We can draw a line under last night. These lads know what needs to be done.

I think we can beat Sheffield Utd. After last night’s carry on it would be so Typical Boro to smash 3 past them and start on a great run.
What rubbish. Trying to gift them goals from the start. The first goal should never have happened because soft Burgzorg should have put his foot through it but didn't.. Their manager had a word with them at half time, I. E. Just run at them, and we fell apart.

Don't be talking sense on here, you know you have to shot your toys out of the pram to fit in.

I feel one or two posters on here need to get a new hobby because following the Boro is not doing their health any good.

Nothing to do with the opposition. I was more annoyed after the defeat to Preston. Last night just left me feeling fed up.
