Some decent apprenticeship's kicking about this time of year. A few with my company that would lead to highly paid career for people with the right attitude. Be worth applying if you, your sons or grandsons are suitable. Some would mean training away from home but would likely lead to offshore work and the perks attached. Not for everyone, but it does provide a nice lifestyle if you do it right.

It is good to see proper apprenticeships being available.
Companies must invest in the future and fu.ck all of these 'just in time' models that stops them thinking too far down the line.
The old bitch brought in the worthless YTS schemes in the 80s.
Kids need to be looked after and nurtured instead of being saddled with a lifetimes worth of debt for a decent adult education.

JIT is purely about inventory levels, it’s nothing to do with investing in the future (or not).

Jesus mate, yea obviously it's open to all genders and you'll be glad to hear I have nothing to do with the selection process. In fact, minority groups would have an advantage due to the industry being dominated by men.

I'm old and maybe not as pc as I should be but the original post is well intentioned, only trying to help. But I think you know that.

Northerner is right though, tells you a lot about the sub conscious about it. I have 2 daughters and it didn’t even register with me until I seen northerner’s post

It wasnt said with bad intent, but unless it’s called out….

Or option b), someone was trying to do the board a favour. Most would assume that it's open to 'daughters and granddaughters' as well.

It doesn't really "need calling out", it'll just stop people wanting to post if people are so keen to take offense.

Alternatively, any women or young girls reading that post are likely to think "no point in me applying due to my gender."

Any? These days I doubt too many women or young girls of apprenticeship age would think that. Most would know that pretty much any scheme would (quite rightly) be open to both sexes.

Regardless, someone was trying to do the board a favour, giving a heads up about an opportunity. I think it could just be taken at face value and appreciated, rather than criticised. (We can agree to disagree though I guess).
 
Sexism does exist when it comes to recruiting into lots of roles with industry, although its not in the way that most of you think. There are a number of schemes available today that have quotas to meet in terms of gender, ethnic minority, and socio economic status. If anybody is getting discriminated against its the white middle class boys. I work in these industries, and it annoys the hell out of me. The best person for the job should get the job, employing people to fulfill diversity quotas is wrong. There will be very real examples where there are 2 competing people for a role, both excellent, both well qualified, but the deciding factor will be driven by a desire to meet a target for a certain demographic.
 
I also have 2 daughters and I haven't taken any offence whatsoever from the opening post. I didn't even think of taking offence until I read some drivel replies.

In fact, the gesture from the opening post was brilliant, to advertise some jobs for the younger generation.

Anyone thinking the OP was being misogynistic needs to get a grip of themselves.

I did state there was bad intent, words tell you a lot about someone’s subconscious. It’s leaks all sorts
