Anyone seen Oppenheimer yet?

Two and a half.
Exactly 3 hours long

Regarding showing it being dropped in Japan, the whole Oppenheimer story isn't about that. Its about how quickly he regretted what he had done because of the implications of what it could do way beyond Japan. I also thought the execution of the Trinity Test was superbly done. A masterclass in building tension but then the one thing you expect doesn't happen, or not straight away anyway. The silence when it detonates makes so much more impact than what would actually happen.

You are right - and so was Einstein. :) Shows how much I enjoyed it.

Did they even mention Tube Alloys project we handed over to them and the fact we had people in on Manhatten too, and the fact that immediately following the war they flipped the finger by unilaterally ending the agreement to share all nuclear projects with us.
I will try to see it .
No

I think Nolan directing may have resulted in the film being viewed as a typical "blockbuster", which is slightly unfortunate. As far as character studies go, it's right up there and I for one would welcome further forays into this genre .

Actually, could Batman be classed as a character study? 😁

I really enjoyed it, but like others say, it drags a bit at the end. The build-up and execution of the Trinity Test are fantastic, but then it loses pace with the political witch-hunt story line. Some really strong performances from Downey Jr and Murphy, and that final scene and line was a punch in the gut. I couldn't think about anything else for the rest of the day.

Went and saw it last night and thought it was an absolute masterpiece. I thought the time-hopping was executed perfectly and there was not one element of filler content.

Both the wife and I said we were gripped throughout the whole three hours - even the last hour which in my opinion in an integral part of Oppenheimer's story. The whole cinema just left in silence after that final scene with Einstein.

As for people thinking it should have shown the A-bomb over Hiroshima etc, I'd suggest you look at your imagination first. I certainly didn't need a visual representation of the projects work to understand the absolute catastrophic disaster that it caused. The scene with Oppenheimer being at a presentation of evidence photos was harrowing enough to understand the full extent. That and the fact that we've all seen the photos.

I thought it also demonstrated that no matter what period of events is occurring, people in power cannot be trusted.
