Anyone seen Oppenheimer yet?

Me and the wife went to the cinema to see it last night. I thought it was good but she hated it and said it was dull.

It's not at all what I expected though, it has been done in the seemingly modern format of short sharp scenes which I find hard to engage with.

Most of the movie was stunning, particularly if you're familiar with the story but it did feel like the last hour dragged on way too much.

Go see it, you'll have a blast, excuse the pun.

7.483437/10 - Good but could have been better.

ps. There are boobs to see.

Thought it was great - didn't feel like 3 hours to be honest. The jumping timelines kept you thinking and piecing things together.

Think Christopher Nolan is a bit of an acquired taste though, if you like the style it's easy to get on board. See also Wes Anderson.

Nolan does like a jumping timeline.
Have you seen Memento?

Saw it last week. Thought for the most part it was good. The jumping timeline was ok, but they showed the more recent ‘court case’ in black and white and the earlier one in colour which was counter intuitive.

Agree with Brian Marwood the last hour dragged, two hours could have covered it, Mrs Flash suggested it would have been better as a three part mini series. Cillian Murphy will get an oscar though.

Now on to Barby ……..

It was very good - it did take a while to work out exactly what was going on in the various timelines. If you had zero background on it you might struggle.

Yeah, this. I went with my daughter and she couldn't work out what the heck was going on. You need to know about the war, the project and McCarthyism going in, I felt.

I thought it was OK, very dry. Which was disappointing because the hype leading up to it led me to believe it was a masterpiece and a life changing film. It's neither. It's better than 99% of the stuff that gets released in the cinema, but I think it's two duds in a row from Nolan now.

Absolutely incredible film. Loved it. Murphy is brilliant, as is Matt Damon. Soundtrack is phenomenal.

The first twenty minutes or so were a little off putting (multiple timelines with short scenes) but settled down into longer scenes after a while which allowed for very strong character development and tension.

Genuinely think it will be looked back on as one of the best of this generation.

Did they even mention Tube Alloys project we handed over to them and the fact we had people in on Manhatten too, and the fact that immediately following the war they flipped the finger by unilaterally ending the agreement to share all nuclear projects with us.
I will try to see it .

I enjoyed; probably need to see it again as I'm not good at picking up names/faces etc and there's a lot of that.

However, I like the fractured timeline and multiple perspectives telling the story. Great acting performances too.

For the "not what I expected" crowd (and I appreciate that that comment isn't automatically the same as finding fault), what were you expecting?
