Anyone able to bring on the optimism

Early January always has grabbed me by the emotional collar and left me feeling flat like a lot of people in general
Football often is a ray of sunshine with intermittent typhoons
Today's result and recent results have left me feeling unusually pessimistic about the season
I know we are 6th
Despite the run of strange results
But the place feels flat and the Riverside reflects it
The crowd aren't bring inspired to engage, come on lads show some passion some bite some backbone and spirit
Nobody getting in the box today at all hardly was embarrassing
Can anyone find a positive paragraph please to help lift the mood

It’s a day to be utterly furious with Carrick. Optimism tomorrow or next week. The fury is because we went out with a whimper and then the manager tries to imply it was a close game.
We never looked like scoring, ever.

There is room for some optimism.

Optimism that we stop running to a point in line with the edge of the box, trap the ball to stop it dead and then look up to begin passing it in an arc around their box while they fill it with men and prepare to accept possession from our cross.

I am a footballing idiot and would hope that professional coaches have already compared that tactic with Blackburn running quickly, passing quickly and having a man run into the box to drill it home.

Gilbert had a good snapshot and Barlaser's "piledriver" might have been on target if it hadn't have hit Burgzorg in the gob 😁

Spot on

People complain about home form but if you take those three plus Leeds out of the equation (which technically, we should) we haven’t actually lost at home in the league since February. Almost a whole year unbeaten!

Amazing, a year unbeaten at home if we ignore the teams that beat us.

If we ignore the teams above us we are top of the league. Get in!

Atypical I don't think this was a cry for help. I suspect it's just another, moan fest so you might be wasting your time.

We are not good enough to be top 6 despite, well being top 6. We have one of the best squads in the division and should be challenging for autos, despite there being no evidence for our squad being top 2 other than fools making it up for something to moan about.

Give it a wide birth mate.

I’ve discovered a slight flaw.

If we ignore the teams above us we can consider ourselves top, however equally we can ignore the teams below us and therefore consider ourselves bottom.

We have a Schrödinger’s league position paradox.
The top 4 are clearly in contention for the 2 automatic places.

But we are top of the league in terms of “hopefuls”.

We shall not, we shall not be moved!

There’s been quite a few examples of teams doing that at the Riverside this season and we don’t seem to have learnt anything yet. Hopefully the penny will eventually drop.
