Animal Farm

I went to see a stage production of Animal Farm at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury today, which by the by was adapted & directed by a Stockton lad, Robert Icke.

Despite the age of the story, it seemed like a parody of our current government.

Hope Nadine Dorries doesn't become aware of it, she'll have it banned.

Well worth seeing, if it is on anywhere near you, a marvellous production.

Its a parody of elites to me, the people at the top look after each first, I see it in organisation after organisation. Usually the more centralised government the worse it is. The parody is probably at its biggest when the society in question is supposed to be equal.

The farm track is being leveled up as we speak. Maybe that's what the tractor porn was all about. ;)

Wow I did not know this, that one of my heroes spent time and wrote one of his greatest works a few miles down the road.

Might check to see if any tickets left this weekend. Great book, and love The Marlowe.

@Redwurzel saw your profile pic and wondered if you have seen the Clapton CFC away jersey? In the colours of the Spanish Republic with 'No Pasaran' on the back? I got my cousin to visit the ground (he lives in London) and send it over to Australia for me. You can buy online now. (if you didn't already know this!)

I'm one of those annoying people who thinks that anyone who quotes Orwell at you has probably only read two books in their entire life.

I’ve read three Orwell books but won’t bore you with any quotes.
I like Orwell. Don't get me wrong. I just get the impression that a lot of people throw quotes around to try and prove a point and it's always the same ones. Especially on twitter. They probably haven't even read the books. They're just sharing stuff that they agree with. Sorry if I've peed you off.

Not at all mate. I get the point you are making and agree. Orwell was a hero of mine growing up. Nobody does despair quite like him.

I have read the book many times, as I have 1984. In hindsight I think the book was too simple, the parody of its time.

However if I had read the book at its inception my views would more than likely be different.

I hope the show was good.
