Alas I know little of the Byzantine machinations of local government so please enlighten me if possible without committing libel.

Is Preston the dodgy property developer spiv I think he is or is the Council itself at fault?
 
I have the full report which is in draft, on my desk and I am reading it as we speak. It's marked "Private and Confidential" with a note that the report, full or in part must not be used for any purpose or given to any other party without me gaining written consent.

As a member of the council can however make personal comments, which I may well do once I have read the 50+ pages.
 
We played Orange Pip Market a month or so ago, still waiting to be paid by them. Chased it up at least 5 times now.

Are you aware of this toxic culture and hostile environment that Andy refers and these lazy and selfish councillors wasting money on petty issues???

It's an interesting question, I was elected less than 15 days ago, obviously I know many councillors inc. Mr Preston and have known many of them for a long time. I was involved in the election of Dave Budd, I spoke to Ray Mallon on many occasions when he was mayor, I have never ever known the culture and hostile environment that our council is currently in like it is now.

Obviously I am a Labour member, and have been a party member for a long time and have been involved in discussions and even selections of current Labour party councillors. so I guess some can say I have motives. My motive is our town, the place where I live and the place that my family live.

Sadly I truly don't believe some others elected to our council have the same motives I have.
 
Reading that report it's an absolute disgrace, and they are still fighting amongst themselves.
Wrongful payments.!!!! FFS

No wonder our town is in such a state 😡

Based on what you say, it sounds like an independent third party coming in to evaluate and make recommendations is the best thing for all concerned including the people of Middlesbrough. It is a shame, as things like this tend to cast a shadow and people lose trust, we have seen it in Liverpool council, a real shame that is has got to this point.

It's what the chief exec has recommended, that in itself says that there is zero trust between the chief officers and the elected leaders.
 
All Preston seems to do is take photoshoots. There are some good people in the council mind, theres a lad for Coulby (Stefan Walker I think his name is) is really pro-active in finding out what the issues around here are and pushing to fix them.

Our council is ran by the Mayor Andy Preston and his hand picked executive, currently 3 Tory members and 9 "independent" members. The council consists of 46 members, 21 of which are labour, 3 Tory and 21 Independents, the Tories and the independents along with Mayor Preston control the council and have done since 2019.

I know Stefan well, he was elected as a Labour member, I selected him prior to 2019, sadly he left Labour and joined the Independents. I do like Stefan and we do talk, but I remain very disappointed he left Labour because of an executive position offered to him from Mayor Preston, Stefan is currently the executive member for finance. which does suit him as he is a qualified accountant.

Total hogwash!

There is no such thing as "Independent"

The independents in Tory voting areas are left mostly Labour supporters, the Independents in mainly Labour voting areas are mostly Tory supporters.

In the main "Independents" are just people conning other people. it's the most dishonest politics about and politics is full of dishonesty.
