Andy McDonald suspended over rally comments

Very little leverage for anyone to get Israel to stop whilst hostages are still held.
Hamas will not give them up as having them creates the anger amongst Israelis that leads to the carnage suffered by Palestinians. The World is focused on why wont Israel consider a ceasefire which is all negativity towards Israel not Hamas.

So far 8000 people killed , more than half are women and children.. at best ... 2 hostages released ?
Seems more like revenge than a productive attempt to free hostages .

The reason for a ceasefire would be to stop a humanitarian crisis for innocent civilians.. unless you don't agree ?

Unfathomable that people can defend what Starmer said. He was literally asked whether Israel had a right to cut off power, food and water.

He said “ I think Israel does have that right”

Those actions contravene international law so he was 100% saying Israel have the right to break international law.

The fact he later said something slightly different doesn’t negate what he originally said.

I say this as a lifelong Labour supporter and it gives me no joy to realise that Starmer is an absolute monster. Just like the Tories.

Always remember that whatever our politicians say when the media journalists are trying to entrap them with leading questions that neither Labour or the Tories are responsible for firing one missile, one shell or one bullet on the Gaza Strip.

The U.K. is not at war and has certainly not caused the horrors of this one.

Agreed.

But only the actions of one side are being defended by some on here (not you).
Grow up. No one is really defending Israel. You can suggest that starmer is being misrepresented and still loathe the state of Israel. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Where does Israel buy those bullets, shells and missiles from? I'll give you a hint, at least some of the time it's from british firms. Just cutting off that pipeline is the most basic thing we could do.

There is always 2 sides to every story, the brilliant Matt has this. I suspect that both sides are guilty of horrors that none of us could even imagine.

The actions of Israeli settlers in the West Bank have been getting very little coverage with what's going on in Gaza.

Some of it is unhinged, even more so than it had been in the past.

Which is why I went looking for the full interview, because, if anything it makes what he said previously even worse. He said it in the full knowledge that it contravened international law and then added that as an afterthought.

He also says should, not must, which, as a lawyer you'd think he'd be careful with.

Unless you're telling us he's incompetent, he clearly stated that Israel had the right to deny power and water. There is zero ambiguity. He could, and should, have backtracked immediately but he chose not to.

The full, full interview is here:

And since this interview he has clarified what he meant numerous times. But you keep on posting that one.

This is utterly disgusting. I am pleased that it is getting coverage on the morning breakfast TV shows.

Unless the West somehow intervenes to end this madness now I feel that history will show we were on the wrono side of this conflict. We should be on the side of innocent civilians, not supporting Israel to bomb them in refugee camps.

The whole thing is getting more and more sadistic, IDF soldiers kidnapping Palestianians and dancing around them with while they're blindfolded, an Israeli journalist filming in his car with his kids in the back pretending they're hostages, members of the public kidnapping Palestinians, mock up videos of people pretending they're being taken hostage. Every day it gets worse and worse, something has to he done. We can't be on the side of history where we not only did nothing, we supported it.

But they embolden Israel with their ‘unconditional’ support.

No he hasn’t. Not once has he referred to those original comments, he just pretends he didn’t say them.

Israel continue to ignore international law on a daily basis. Not one of our ‘leaders’ has openly criticised that. Worse than that, they have sacked/suspended MPs who have called for peace.

They are ghouls, as are those on here who defend them.

Nice.

I think the ghouls are the ones using this dreadful conflict as an excuse to again slag off Starmer but hey, what do I know?

Anyway, the next few days will be interesting. The bombing of a refugee camp must be a game changer when it comes to the attitude of our Government, opposition and media.

Bit meaningless to "clarify" them more than a week later, and after sending Thornberry on Newsnight to double down on them! Clearly the comments didn't have the desired effect on the focus group feedback.

He should have just stuck with them then, eh?

It won’t change anything. Sunak and Starmer will continue to support Israel despite them slaughtering civilians.
