Andy Carrol

A grand a week , the lad is definitely worth it …for any team.
we’ll be paying more than that for 2 not needed background people

He was a handful and scored .
I think after today Wilder will want a plan B striker who can change a game , and by bringing Coburn on and not Uche tells me Uche is going , and we need an upgrade on Coburn for that role .
Wilder in yesterdays press conference told me that Uche is going by saying “Uche is going”

Didn’t know he was playing till he scored and taunted us geordie ****
I was happy Boro wiped that smile off his face at the end of the game. Funny how he ran and taunted the family section full of kids and not the North stand where he might have got a lot more back!

To be fair I wouldn't expect him to have any idea of where the family seats are!

He took his goal well, but the rub with Carrol is that you have to play a certain way to get the best out of him. He would be pointless in our team, even more so than big Uche.

He ran towards the section I'm in which was full of kids, probably more kids than adults. He must have noticed that. At least Sporar had the class to hold his hands up in apology when he realised he'd ran towards a section full of kids at Nottingham Forest.

Funny thing is, the excessive time they took over he celebration probably added on the extra couple of minutes we needed to score the winner!

I thought he had a decent game (although Fry handled him for most of the game) and will likely fit in perfectly with Burnley's style of football. Might have suited us under Warnock, but would be no use to us now.

Get some perspective some of you.
Carroll won the vast majority of aerial duels and Fry didn't cope with him well at all. When Carroll is fit he is a handful and much better on the ground than he is given credit for.
There is no way I would want to sign him now given what we have and given that he is still not fit, or sustaining fitness.
His goal was a great header bossing defenders, but I was still disappointed with Lumley for it.
