And so it begins - the RWNJs take down of Marcus Rashford MBE

From the lad himself...

"Just heard @spectator are planning to run a story on me tomorrow about how I have benefitted commercially in the last 18 months…To clarify, I don’t need to partner with brands. I partner because I want to progress the work I do off the pitch and most of any fee I would receive contributes to that. Last summer, 1.3M children had access to food support, through my relationship with Burberry children have a safe place to be after school where they will be fed, following the November investment vulnerable children have safe places to go this summer holiday, and due to my relationship with Macmillan 80,000 children now have a book to call their own. Do I have a larger commercial appeal following the u-turns? I’m sure.

But I’m also a Manchester United and England international footballer. Why has there always got to be a motive? Why can’t we just do the right thing?

Ps I actually enjoy reading bits from The Spectator now and again but this is just a none starter… Have a good night all!"

Sh*tty little tory rag, rummaging around in the garbage, looking for scandal, as usual.

Nothing new, I remember when a younger Gove went through Sir David Attenborough's bins looking for similar.

Clearly Neil is behind the decision to publish this. He’s intent on stoking up the “culture war” from his Villa in the South of France just like his highly divisive “anti woke” channel. Despicable man.
You said it a lot more nicely than I would have mate.

Edit: I phrased that terribly but I think it just about makes sense. My version would have involved crocodiles and pointy sticks and no lubricant whatsoever.

Andrew Neil got a lot of positive comments, on here as well, for his interviews during the election. He then went on to complain by starting a channel with broadcasters “who don’t get heard” which was strange as he was the head political Interviewer on the BBC.

He has dropped a major brick in creating this new TV Channel which is already dying on its feet and when the going got tough there he ran back to his cosy villa in the south of France. For a “sabbatical“ apparently he said. Now he’s cooking this up in his rotten rag of a mag. Nothing good will be gained by doing it except make him some money with the publicity. It’s rotten to the core and so is he.

I think (and hope) that the Spectator will come out worse on this one.
They've just received free advertising for article that hasn't even been released yet and would have likely gone ignored by most if not for this response. How exactly do you come out worse it such a situation?

He goes up in my estimation every time the nasties attempt a take down,
Worraguy!

All it proved is how much he's getting under their skin. See also that idiot MP who tweeted he should "concentrate on football" after missing the pen.

It should be embarrassing for them that a 22 year old footballer is running rings around them. And he's not even attempting to deliberately embarrass them, he's just trying to do the right thing.

They're so triggered by it though they can't see it. It'd be hilarious if it wasn't so depressing that a significant enough number of the population can't see through it and lap this **** up.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they pull the article overnight and then make a statement about cancel culture and that was their plan all along. Publicity. I can’t otherwise fathom out how a right wing publication would want to highlight how a young man is making money and criticise him for it. Unless there was a sinister reason.

As stated above they must be really triggered by him.

I guess it would bring the fact that it's such a vile rag to the attention of more people, unless you argue that no publicity is bad publicity. On the flip side, I can't see it doing any harm to Marcus, going by the response we've seen so far, so he's probably coming out better.
