Amazing Atmosphere at the end

Really good atmosphere today, as the crowd reacted positively to a good performance. In the West Upper there was constant clapping as we held the ball at the NW corner flag. It is a long time since there has been such SUPPORT from those around me. (Apart from 3 people who left after 2 mins of injury time!! 😳)

There was even song started by the west stand lower we which must be a first !
I think Yusuf may have played a part in orchestrating it.

In fairness to our fans the vast majority are desperate for the team to do well, it’s only the deep disappointment which comes out at times.

Warnock remarked on it didn’t he, saying something like if it went on the goodwill of the supporters we would be in the champions league.

The emotion of the crowd towards the end and at the end was right up there, it’s been a tough shift since the Coventry play off defeat.

Hopefully with 4 points out of 6 in the week we have turned the corner.

I'm about as negative about our fans as anyone, as I am fed up of the moaners, but, I think on the whole we have an amazing support.

Numbers, volume, away numbers, it's off the scale fantastic.

South Stand have given up on the North now, and sing "West Stand, give us a song" instead. The SW corner usually oblige.

the two thirds full South Stand? To be fair I wouldn't be parting with £30+ either with our recent form, but first time I've seen an entire block empty this season. One numpty thought it would be a good idea to run across it when we equalised .. some distance to the away fans!

Atmosphere is only loosely correlated with crowd size.

One of the best Riverside atmospheres was a 3-1 win over Brum. A fairly routine sort of fixture. We were 2-1 up but down to 9 men. For the last 15-20 mins the place was rocking. When Tomlin made it 3-1 in the last minute, it was bedlam.

The attendance was 13399 that night.

By comparison, we can all recall full houses with fairly tepid atmospheres. Wigan on boxing day was genial. The dead rubbers pre playoffs Vs Brighton and Cov had snooze worthy atmospheres.

Still one of my favourite games. There was a siege mentality in the stands after some pretty poor refereeing decisions.
