All those Lumley bedwetters…

Not sure the need for such a divisive title? Some fans rate him, some don’t as much - it’s ok to discuss this like adults.
I don't much like the thread title either but it is probably in response to some posters choice of words when they critisize lumley. Nothing wrong with adult debate but when some posters post stuff like "oh FFS get the clown off" that isn't adult debate either.

Most posters are reasoned in their comments but my god some are juvenile idiots.

Man Utd game was the turning point for me, we won the game despite him., I even said later he brings something positive to the team spirit through his character and it could be very important, but I feel his errors are avoidable, which he really needs to sort out, and most of the other goals against him up to the last two games are soft. If he's turned a corner I am glad for him and us, but he has to remember his basic job is defending his goal rather playing down the wing against Spurs which if that attempt had gone in you can forget about all this " admit you were wrong" crap.

He's our number one goalkeeper for the rest of the season and for that reason alone we need to get behind him.
I would be amazed if a new keeper wasn't Wilders number 1 priority in the summer.
I think that largely depends how he gets on for the remaining games. A month ago I would agree that a new keeper would be on the shopping list in the summer. If he continues to perform at the level he has for the last 2 games, maybe not. The ricks he makes you see day after day with all keepers to one extent or another.

Don’t disagree with you - how would you define the term bedwetters? Seems pretty juvenile to me…….

Must be pleased you were wrong about him…

All keepers have their moments but he’s clearly saved more points and helped win more games than lost now…
I’m not sure his first game in a while without errors proves anything conclusively.

He also played well against Spurs in the main but, of course, had Doherty rolled the ball into the empty net when Lumley had rushed out and missed the ball then the conversations would be different.

Played really well yesterday though and made a couple of great saves.

As I’ve said on another Lumley thread, the lad certainly has character. And he seems a positive person.

Good luck to him. We all want him to be a success but that wouldn’t make previous criticism incorrect when he was clearly making bad errors regularly.

Even with a strong end to the season he will struggle to be number one next season.

I agree that in both instances the terminology used its childish. I was trying to explain that it was probably aimed at the handful of posters who debate on the same manner, is all.
Lumley divides opinion on here. My view? Lacks consistency and doesn’t inspire confidence overall. Whilst there is no argument about his last 2 performances- and great to see- there is a doubt he will make a horrendous error that would be costly. No more, no less.

Is this something only us have endured? Not according to QPR fans. A factor worth considering.

I was only joking, people… 😂

We all have different opinions of different players…

But plenty of times I’ve seen those that have supported lumley get called out…

I just think that there’s more to the goals he’s conceded than his errors..

I also admit he’s made some howlers but he’s far from the worst we’ve seen in a boro top as some have claimed..

He is error prone, or at least has been up until the last couple of games. However, you may want to considerr he has played only about 120 games in 8 years until arriving at boro as no1. He has just turned 27, I think, and is on his first full season as a number 1 keeper and I assume will get better.

Will he ever be good enough? I think so and his last couple of performances may indicate that. It could also be he reverts back to the blooper reel on Tuesday night.

As others have said, he does bring much more to our game than just his **** ups. I think he is, generally, very effective coming out and gets there most of the time. Against man Utd, he got both Fry and McNair out of trouble on 3 different occasions coming out. Granted he gifted United at least 1 chance that should have put us out of the cup.

And there could be good reason why he has played so little games considering his age!
There could be, one reason might be he has always been a number 2 to a better goalkeeperr. That doesn't mean he can't develop into a number 1. He cerrtainly hasn't been given consistent runs in the first team by anyone, up until this season.

Betcha he comes good!

I think we have to believe in CW, he has trust in him to be our No1 since he arrived & sees him as good enough to be not replaced in january

TBH everything he has done yesterday and the Spuds game were what any keeper worth his salt should have been comfortable with. Lets see how he goes in the next run of games. Hopefully he will have a decent run up to end of season then we will have no problems off loading him.

He's done quite well recently but we would be doing a lot better as a team if we had a good number 1 over the season.
Hopefully this is the start of him being a good number 1 for good.
