All The Light We Cannot See

I read the Guardian review after I'd watched the first episode. I pretty much agree with the review - it's brightly coloured, implausible and the accents are terrible - but I'm still enjoying it.

Watched the first two last night and will persist. I actually think it looks pretty good and (some of) the acting is decent.

I do think the "generic Nazi" must have run its course now though? For a high budget programme it's incredibly "broad brush" in its treatment of Nazis. Almost expected Ade Edmondson to pop up at some point.
 
Brilliant book (as is Cloud Cuckoo Land by same author). Netflix thing is beautifully filmed but the script stinks. Scenes with Mark Ruffalo and little girl are embarrassingly cheesy
 
That's the right order to do it in. I never enjoy watching things based on a book I've already read, but always do the other way round.
The original golden compass was a lot better having not read the his dark materials series at the time 😂 if I'd read the books first I'd have hated it. Second one a lot better but what a stellar cast the film had
