Alex Gilbert

Boro linked to Brentford B Striker
If that’s true and he wants game time then you can write forest off, they’ve got about 14 million players . Wolves, can’t see that either.l unless he wants to swap one B team for another

Interesting we have been linked with Sammy Silvera who plays a similar position. Moneyball replacements for Aaron Ramsey perhaps?

Looking for talent is one thing, looking for the next Keith O’Neill is fine and dandy, fans getting pleased about signing freezer ready players when we need oven ready is another. Is anyone on here really keen for Alex Gilbert, who lets be honest, people know little about, to fire us to promotion, is he the key to unlock the promotion door?. Does anyone believe he will be the difference to fire our promotion dreams? His 8 professional games for Swindon must have been jaw dropping, and his goal record of zero in the first team is second to none, what is there not to get excited about?

More than happy to snap up young talent.

However we will need to add alongside those types of signings, potentially loans in to then give the younger players another year to develop with less pressure on them. For instance Archer back as the main man, Gilbert chips in for a season and gets used to what its like to play int he Championship ...

You dont win anything with kids 👀

In a world where Declan Rice is worth £105m, clubs like Boro need to be looking in youth or B team markets for the next lad who might be worth silly money in a few years time.
Absolutely we do, I have no truck with that, signing potential stars of the future is one thing, signing first team ready players is another. One poster talked of the lad, reasonably pointing out game time would be limited at Forest and Wolves, but given Izzy has stated Carrick said auto promotion is the aim this season, is an Alex Gilbert the man you can hang your hat on to replace an Aaron Ramsey or Ryan Giles et al?

Of course he may be a potential talent, the fact that other teams in the PL are interested and that Brentford have offered a new contract tells you the lad has promise, but is promise enough to achieve the stated aim, I’d be surprised if he was seen as a first team shoe in. He may be a world beater, I don’t know, he may be the next Ryan Giggs, he could always turn out to be the next Harry Chapman too, If we as a club want to try to get auto promotion we need a degree of tried and tested talent for the first 11 surely?
