Albums that should have been great but weren't

I am a big Suede fan too and during the whole Britpop era I much preferred them and Pulp to Blur and Oasis (though got into Oasis quite a bit later on once I saw beyond the Gallaghers being unlikeable tools). However, while DMS was a great album I still didn't actually mind Coming Up. Yes it was different but I still listen to it quite often and thought it was actually quite a decent album.

Love Suede and actually like Coming Up think it has some cracking songs on it. The second half of Head Music and most of A New Morning were pretty ropy in comparison. That said the three albums since reforming have all been good. When I saw them last year it was my show of the year. They are really back to their best live.

lets have a piece on Leonard Cohen... you know what you get with Lenny - deep thoughtful - humour and great love songs....the older he got the deeper his voice and complemented his words more so... so his last album You want It Darker falls well into this ... the tunes meander, rich sparse production - wonderful LP fitting end to a great wordsmith and a very humble man
