Just been one Boro and seen a Tweet posted of Alan Nixon replying to a fan who asked about Carrick being favourite.
He said Gibbo hasn't been 'Struck' by anyone he's met yet.
So going off that report we're talking, Michael Carrick, Carlos Corberan and Rob Edwards that are free agents he could have met?

Sounds encouraging doesn't it haha!
 
It does I think.

Non of the names have interested me. Anyone we do bring in at this point is hamstrung by the selection of absolute dog sh*** midfielders that we have.

May as well let Leo take the heat until Jan I think. He's big enough to take it and then he can drop back to a coaching role again.

We need to have deals in place for the start of Jan, we will get relegated if we do not strengthen midfield.

We could be adrift by that point, we need a manager in now, Leo isn’t a manager
 
I think we'll pick up enough points to keep us well in play between now and Jan.

My worry would be we appoint a perm manager now and then he is sacked before Jan, making a disaster out of a crisis.

Would Rob Edwards pick up many more points than Leo? Would Carrick?

Our midfield cannot run, that is the issue.

I agree that’s why I’d look at attributes not positions, look at the defenders we have.

I’d move either Giles or Jones into mf poss to give us those legs.

There are only 12 games before January.

Absolutely no chance is the new manager getting sacked in that time.

Wilder was sacked because of issues behind the scene building up and results being poor for many months, not just how badly we started the season.

We need a long term appointment whoever it is, but we do need someone quick, Leo is massively out of his depth with this. Huge break coming up in a few weeks it’s the perfect time for a new manager to basically have a pre season
 
I'm sure Gibson and Nixon are like that 🤞and he's giving him updates on his thoughts after every interview.

Either that or Nixon is just full of **** as per. and is just making stuff up to make it look like he's in the know.

I know what my money is on. Others, can of course, come to their own opinion.......
 
I've said this before, but I want someone who has competence and can build a good side. I doubt many of us had heard of Daniel Farke (Norwich), Thomas Frank (Brentford) or even Graham Potter (Brighton) before they turned average sides into good teams. I'll take an unknown (ala Wenger) if they can prove they have the skills to get us playing properly.
 
Looks to me like that tweet from Nixon is just his opinion. I’m not sure how he’d know whether Gibson has been keen or not on anyone he has interviewed yet, unless Bausor or Scott is leaking info to him?

Carrick will be announced tomorrow, or Tuesday, depending on getting his backroom team agreed.
