airport queues

I flew from Bristol to Madrid with Easyjet on Wednesday,I'm not sure if I remember how it was before but this time felt chaotic, I arrived with 2 hours to go and it was touch and go going through all the checks. I was chatting to a guy on the plane who who has his flight cancelled on Monday then Tuesday so I guess I was lucky to get on.

Flew Manchester - Larnaca last Monday, no real problems at all. Fast track security pass worked well, only issue ended up being sat on the tarmac for an hour - air traffic control issue, not Jet2.
Heard some horror stories about the baggage claim in Manchester so let's see what happens there at half 2 Wednesday morning 😬😬

Flying from LBA next Sunday. As they offer Fast Track I thought it would be a good idea. Tried 3 times entering all details including payment without success so emailed them.
"Sorry we're not offering that service at present.."
Marvelous. So take it off your website then.

Sound similar for Stansted

Book it on Holiday Extras. I had the same problem and discovered that it can be done on there. I did it an hour ago for August.

Flew from LBA last weekend, afternoon flight so checked in 11:30 , no real issues with security checks but flight delayed owing to an emergency landing earlier in the day. This did then have a knock on with those checking in later , queues out of the terminal unfortunately. They did only have two of the security check gates open at that time.

Flew from Manchester Terminal 2 yesterday morning - horrendous. Queued over an hour for check in, then a further hour in security queue. We had to get pulled out in the end before we missed our flight.

I think all of the airports are struggling with the increase in flights and a relative shortage of staff.

One of my colleagues' friends works for a company who processes the staff passes at airports and they are absolutely flat out at the moment. The company who are next door to us do security screening for companies as part of their work and they're really busy as well with airlines and logistics companies who work airside.

When you lay off the majority of your workforce you tend to struggle to function. Extremely short sighted management during a temporary problem.

Who expected demand to return at the end of it?

Well everybody really but those running the industry saw it as a chance to ditch experienced staff and do a spot of profiteering.

Had a friend who went from T1 yesterday and got through from check in to first pint in just under 90 minutes, but I think they still have fast-track in T1

We did Manchester-Lisbon this time last week (term 1). Straight through with fast track security, 5-10 mins max.

Passport in Lisbon was about 15 mins.

Coming back (Porto-Manc) Monday PM, security around 10 mins, arrived into Manc late Monday and breezed through passport.

Bag drop/check in seems to be one of the biggest issues at the moment. We're seriously considering hand luggage only in July but not sure it's practical for 10 days in New York.
