Aidan Morris

Clayton was a very limited player, good at what he did in a very defensive team.

Morris had another shot on target last night which took a deflection and looked like it was arrowing towards the corner...Clayton used to go months without a shot.

Morris plays intricate passing out of tight areas, pinches any heavy touches.
Your heart was in your mouth if Clayton had to pass it through midfield.

Clayton was a tough competitor and would run through a brick wall for the team but I'm struggling to remember any real quality as a play maker.

Vieira, Keane, Makele, Kante, Fabinho, Fernandinho, Rodri... every premier league team that's won the league has had the outstanding DM that controls the midfield. Early days but this could be the signing we've been waiting for.

He does have a bit of Kante about him. I mean just in style. Strong and covers every blade of grass.

Clearly early days. Yet looks a fantastic signing. To think we once spent 7mil on Saville 🤮
We absolutely could’ve signed our kante, remember that Leicester had him and he was instrumental to their success before leaving for Chelsea

Morris is showing all those characteristics of his game and let’s hope he meets a proper good Boro lady, falls in love with the people here and gets us to the premier and plays his part in keeping us there!

At no point could we genuinely have signed Kante, except for the brief period after his first full season in the semi-amateur French third division, and his signing for Caen.
I think they’re saying Morris could be our Kante.

It’s a bit early for people to be throwing around names like those we’ve seen in this thread. Let the lad settle in and let’s see how good he is after the Christmas period.

I am on holiday in Rhodes at the minute so only watched in a screen in a bar. My lad plays centre mid and I just asked him to forget watching the ball for 5 mins and just watch how Morris operates without the ball. Little movements constantly checking shoulder, two movements to create space and always looking to take the ball on the half turn. He is a proper player and far more than the fit, strong DM I had expected. Looks really promising.

Yes I noticed the shoulder checks and one move for the marker and one for himself. He’s been well schooled. They do have a huge number of qualified coaches in the us these days. They will start to produce more technical and tactical players

Yeah, you're right, I've misread his post, my mistake.

It's just a little bugbear of mine that people are always mocking the club over that fan recommending Kante to the scouting department on Twitter in 2013, even if the club had looked at him after that, I don't think there was much chance of him coming here.

Chant doing the rounds! Love it. Our American boy. Fan favourite inside 2 games is some feat.

Take me on a trip I wanna see Teesside
Take me from Columbus to the Riverside
He'll tackle & score, then tackle some more
Morris our American Boy, American Boy

It’s good but it’s yet another chant copied from another club and player. We need to stop that and start coming up with our own songs if we want to stand out as fans.

He is, stronger than Emerson, Morsy and Bailey.
He spat out Ince and Cattermole.
He is all the things that you regret
A yank that passes and learned how to play well, he learned to play well.
I love it as a Manics fan but I doubt it’s going to catch on.

My point is that we’re trying to be seen as doing more than other fans. To me that should include creating the songs other clubs copy.
