Adi Dem where are you?

Speaking of Bob, didn't I read on here a few years ago that Donald & Davey Stott were based on real brothers who were regulars at Boro matches?

The bloke who introduced Bob to Vic used to post on here for a bit. His name is on the tip of my tongue but I can’t quite remember it.

He seemed quite bitter (somewhat understandably, I reckon) and used to occasionally post some gossip about Bob, as well as a few other showbiz names (including one person in particular, who again I can’t remember. I think he may have been a comedy promoter or magazine editor who had ‘wronged’ him) only for him to subsequently delete them once he’d calmed down.

I think his first name may have been Alan, but his username on here was his surname.

Didn't he die once and then come back to life?

Kingy

I read Bob's autobiography recently and he got a mention.

Sadly Kingy did finally pass away and had an obituary in the comedy press.

Yeah, I remember that now, thanks. 👍🏻

Yes I used to know the brothers in question - I haven't seen or heard them recently but I wouldn't count out meeting one of them when I am selling fanzines. Usually wearing a snorkel coat and wanting to point out something unusual one would often come across and speak in a Stott voice. I don't know if they really are the Stotts but they spoke the same and were extremely chatty and were so surreal.
I guess the most memorable conversation I had with them was about the vote for the name for the new Boro stadium back in 1995. They asked me what name I had voted for, I said Erimus,. I asked them what they had gone for. "Ham."
"Ham? What do you mean, Ham Stadium?" I replied in bemused fashion.
"No just Ham."
You don't forget that kind of conversation especially when delivered in deadpan Stott voice, with his brother also chipping in with a similar voice tone.

That's genius.

We first met when they both came up to me asking what I was doing?
Selling a fanzine
What is a fanzine?
Then they would ask me questions about Boro and something that had nothing to do with Boro and then just go, maybe in mid sentence.

I was walking to the match with my Mam and Dad, not long after the new stadium was opened.

There were two fellas walking a bit slower in front of us and as we passed they said something to us. Can’t remember what it was but I think it was something to do with the match, “what do you think the score will be?” Or something.

Anyway, they talked like the Stotts and I assumed they were having a laugh until I read on fmttm, a few years ago, that they were based on real brothers who went to the match.
