That's the point, it wasn't. Wolves couldn't (or wouldn't) pay the release clause . . . and we agreed a contract outside of the release clause to include payment by installments. We did, if his release clause was met (and it seemingly was).
I definitely see them as a counter-attacking side, but they do press high up the pitch admittedly. Their whole game is about moving the ball very quickly, once they win possession - I think he would fit in perfectly, given his explosive pace and ability to carry the ball past defenders.I don't really have Liverpool down as counter attackers.
Even this season, while they've been off form, they've had 63% possession.
That said, I don't think AT is a counter attacking player: he rarely takes the ball on the run, and when he does, likes to slow things down before exploding again.
I'm not sure he's one for the intensive pressing style of Liverpool though. He'd maybe last a half with all that muscle mass he carries.
For the team he is with yes, but as a starter he needs to be in a direct style, 433 with little responsibility to get back and defend. Get him in a team like that, with a decent quality CF and he'll be a star againI have long been of the opinion that he is most effective as an impact sub.
I think Traore, like many at Wolves are paying the price this season for last campaign that stretched to over 12 months in all, played out with a very small playing squad. Remember their European campaign made ours look short, starting in mid summer 2019 and not being completed until after the summer domestic season concluded. Their only break in this entire time was the first lockdown and much of that would have been mentally if not physically straining.
Just as when players take part in summer tournaments it often seems to take months if not an entire season to get back to where they were before.
